An influencer has been criticized for wearing jeans that were deliberately designed to look dirty.
On the Reddit forum r/NYCinfluencersnark, users are tearing into an influencer for wearing distressed jeans that resemble “poo pants” with a matching jacket.
The Super Baggy Jeans, worn by influencer Tao (@taontm), are available at Acne Studios for $800, while the matching jacket retails for $700.
The wide-leg jeans in a light wash were covered in sand discoloration all over, giving the impression that the influencer came into contact with dirt just before going out.
According to the brand's website, these ultra-wide leg jeans are “faded and stained throughout,” perfect for the unexpected construction worker-chic aesthetic.
Users didn't hold back their disdain for the influencer's choice of outfit.
“My toddlers are panting after playing in the mud at the park,” said one user.
“I hate this cosplay,” said another.

“I would be so ashamed,” said a third.
“Unpopular opinion in this thread, but I love them!” said one user in favor of the jeans.
Meanwhile, comments on Tao's post on Instagram were flooded with praise, with most of the comments consisting of heart-eyed emojis.
This isn't the first time a celebrity has flaunted a fake dirty look in public.
Jennifer Lopez has been spotted multiple times sporting the controversial “dirty denim” trend, a polarizing millennial fashion revival that's back in the spotlight.
The Swedish fashion house's jeans caused a stir upon their 2023 release, fueled by a campaign featuring Kylie Jenner caked in mud.
Founded by Jonny Johansson in 1996 with a debut collection of just 100 pairs of jeans, denim has remained a central element of Acne Studios' identity throughout its evolution.
“Denim is one of those rebellious yet practical materials that is always attractive to me,” Johansson told Vogue Scandinavia.

'It is also a very durable material, in the sense that you can wear it again and again for years. I think of denim as the hub for everything else in your wardrobe – all your other clothes revolve around denim. It is an extremely important material that I like to reinvent every season.'
Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner has fully embraced her role as Acne Studios' muse.
By recently attending the brand's Spring/Summer 2023 show in Paris and regularly incorporating their pieces into her wardrobe, Jenner has strengthened her bond with the label.
“I am a fan of the brand and have worn their product for the past several years,” Jenner said in a press release.
'This campaign is one of my favorites. I enjoyed working with Carlijn and I love the simplicity of the images, they have power in their directness.'
The collection itself is packed with seasonal denim washes designed to look aged and lived-in.
The ultra-oversized, unisex silhouette is available in a range of vintage-inspired finishes, including the distressed 'Penicillin' wash and a sleek, waxy 'oil-coated' look.
