Former Interior Secretary Suella Braverman and right-wing actor Laurence Fox were among those who landed on US soil today, ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration.

Wearing a Make America Great Again hat, Ms. Braverman said she was “honored” to be in the United States and “very grateful for the invitation.”

But when pressed by a reporter whether she had received a direct invitation from President-elect Trump, the Fareham and Waterlooville MP declined to answer.

As she marched through the airport, she was asked if she had traveled with Fox, who was walking next to her.

However, she explained that she happened to be on the same flight as the actor turned right-wing political commentator who tweeted last night that it was “great” to be in the US.

Ms Braverman and Mr Fox, the head of the Reclaim Party, are among Britons traveling to the US for Mr Trump's inauguration on Monday.

British reform leader Nigel Farage, former Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss and former Home Secretary Priti Patel will also attend.

Trump arrived in Washington DC last night with his wife Melania and their 18-year-old son Barron.

They traveled in a US military C-32 aircraft on a flight called Special Air Mission 47 – a nod to Trump becoming the 47th president.

The Trump family took off from West Palm Beach, Florida, and landed at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. They later celebrated at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, about 30 miles outside Washington.

Trump's swearing-in ceremony will take place in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda building and not outside due to the cold weather.

About 250,000 people who had tickets to watch the historic event from the Capitol grounds will no longer be able to do so.

It is the first time in 40 years that it has taken place indoors.

Ms Braverman's appearance in the US comes after she said she would vote for Trump if she were a US citizen because the “world will be safer with him as president before the election.”

“I want Trump to be president,” she said on her LBC show last July.

“If we look at the policies – not the characters and personalities – if we look at the policies, I think the world will be a safer place under Donald Trump.

“Looking at his record as president, no wars started when Donald Trump was president.”

She added: “I think there is a real track record of peace and stability worldwide that we saw from Trump when he was president and that we can expect to see in the future. And right now the world is a very volatile place.

“I think we need a strong president in the White House. Personally, if I were an American citizen, I would vote for Donald Trump.”

Ms Braverman met Trump for the first time when he was president, but it is not clear whether he invited her directly to the US for tomorrow's event.

As she walked through the airport, Ms. Braverman was asked if she had been invited and why it was important for her to be in the US.

She replied, “Listen, I got the MAGA hat again. It is an honor to be here and I am very grateful for the invitation to the inauguration.”

When asked again if it was a direct invitation from Trump, Ms. Braverman did not respond and said, “I'm very much looking forward to attending the meeting tomorrow.”

When asked if she was traveling with Laurence Fox, she added: “We just happened to be on the same flight.”

The Fareham MP tweeted earlier today that it was 'great to be in Washington DC' with her husband Rael and Superman star Dean Cain.

'I'm looking forward to the inauguration!' she said as she shared a photo of her, Mr. Braverman and Mr. Cain.

Sir Keir Starmer will not be in Washington DC as per tradition; no British Prime Minister has ever attended the inauguration.

It is not usual for world leaders to attend, but Trump has broken with tradition by inviting right-wing leaders from around the world, including Reform UK's Nigel Farage.

Shadow Foreign Secretary Priti Patel will also attend the sacked Farage as a 'pop-up act' today, ahead of the inauguration.

She said the apparent close relationship between the reform leader and the new president was “irrelevant.”

The former home secretary insisted that the Tories shared 'DNA on values and beliefs' with the Republicans and that the parties 'together ended the Cold War'.

It comes as she is set to attend the White House switchover ceremony alongside former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.

Asked about Farage's influence on Trump, Ms Patel told Sky News it was “not a relevant question”.

'They are our sister party. We have longstanding ties to the Republican Party,” she said, emphasizing the Reagan-Thatcher era.

About Reform, she said: “We're not a pop-up act like they are and their presence is here now.

“Our two parties are united by the principles of conservatism and our DNA in terms of values and beliefs is incredibly strong.”

Ms. Patel said she worked closely with the last Trump administration as Home Secretary and “those ties will continue.”

The comments came after Farage described some members of Trump's new cabinet as “real friends on speed dial” and reiterated his offer to help promote relations.

He told the Sun on Sunday that if he could help 'behind the scenes' he would do so 'because it is in the national interest'.

President Biden will attend the meeting even though Trump was unable to attend his in 2021.

“This president believes in the peaceful transition of power, and that's what you're going to see this president do,” a White House spokeswoman said.

'It's not about him. It's about the American people. That's what the American people need to see, no matter who wins.”
