Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was killed and another seriously injured following 'an altercation' at a house.
Officers were called to a 'terrible incident' at a property on Turners Road North in Luton at around 11.45am on Monday, Bedfordshire Police said.
A 46-year-old woman died in hospital and a second woman, in her 20s, was injured.
Police assume the incident was targeted.
Detectives are now looking for a man who left the scene at the time of the incident.
He is described as a white male, in his 20s, between 5'10″ and 6'2″. Officers said he had a very slim build, a shaved head and was wearing all black with a hood.
The suspect left the scene of the accident on a black and red electric scooter, which was later recovered by police.

Detective Inspector Adam Bridges said: “This horrific incident, which is believed to have involved targeting, unfortunately resulted in one woman losing her life and another suffering serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
'It is imperative that we find the person responsible as quickly as possible, and as such we have specialist teams and resources focused on this search.
'We have also increased our police presence at the property and the surrounding area as part of our investigation and to assist with public reassurance.'
Anyone with any information about the incident, or who has seen a man matching this description, is asked to contact police 'urgently' on 999 and quoting Operation Wroxham.
A man who took to the streets only two days ago described the murder as a terrible event.
The neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: 'I came home yesterday around 12.30pm. I only moved here two days ago.
'The police knocked on my door and asked if I knew the woman who lived in the house. I said no.
“There was a lot of police around, they were walking around the properties – it seemed like they were everywhere.
“I went to sleep because I was working shifts,” he added.
A police cordon remained at the scene today as forensics collected evidence in bags.
A police van was deployed to patrol the estate, which consists mainly of semi-detached houses.
