Luke Littler's irresistible rise to fame in the darts world has not only massively increased the sport's popularity over the past year, but has also put a lot of money in the youngster's pocket.

Following his stunning victory at the World Darts Championship earlier this month, which saw Littler emphatically beat Michael van Gerwen to claim the Sid Waddell Trophy, the darts prodigy added a further £500,000 to his total prize money.

Following his victory at the Ally Pally, the youngest ever world darts champion took his prize money to almost £1.1 million through major events as a teenager.

However, his career earnings to date are believed to exceed that figure, once winnings from the World Championships, PDC Order of Merit, European Tour, Players' Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay and World Grand Prix are collected.

His earnings therefore total around £1.5 million, which isn't half bad in the run up to your 18th birthday.

Unfortunately for Littler, he will never see a large part of that: the teenage sensation has paid income tax on all his winnings, and will have to do so again because of his last £500,000 World Cup win.

According to Sky, Littler has coughed up a tax bill of £369,384 for the calendar year 2024 after earning £811,000 – with more to come.

He's said to have won £202,500 in prize money in 2023, meaning he's already paid £452,772 in income tax – and he's only just come of age.

The £500,000 was paid in 2025, meaning he will soon have another hefty bill to pay.

And then we only take the prize money into account. Littler has a handful of sponsorship deals, including a partnership with Target Darts, which is believed to be worth millions.

Dan Squires, Chief Commercial Officer at Saxo, told Sky that Littler could earn more than £13 million in his lifetime without ever having to play darts again.

“If today he invested half his career earnings, or £500,000, in an index fund that returned seven per cent annually, he would earn £36,145.04 in interest in the first year alone,” he said. 'About the same amount that British people earn on average per year with a full-time job.

'If he leaves that £500,000 in the same fund for his pension, he would have £13,293,751.87 at the age of 65 without ever throwing a dart again.'

Littler celebrated his historic birthday last week during the Bahrain Darts Masters. It was his first tournament as world champion alongside some of the best players in the world.

Littler faced Lourence Ilagan of the Philippines in the first round and won 6-3, while Luke Humphries, Stephen Bunting and Peter Wright also featured.

And, as shared on social media by Littler's father, Anthony, some of his co-stars appeared to surprise him during a night out in the country ahead of the start of the tournament, with Littler looking shocked as a birthday cake came out set to music.

The likes of Bunting and Nathan Aspinall were in attendance, as was Littler's mother, Lisa, with someone dressed in a bull costume delivering the cake, which said 'Happy Birthday Luke' and had a photo of him taking on the World Championship.
