The school shooter who opened fire in a Tennessee cafeteria, killing one girl and wounding another, has been identified.

Nashville police confirmed that Solomon Henderson – who was an active student at Antioch High School at the time of the massacre – was the shooter.

Josselin Corea Escalante, 16, was also identified as the young girl who was killed.

Police said in a statement: “The 17-year-old shooter who committed suicide has been identified as Solomon Henderson, who was an active student at Antioch High School.”

Henderson, 17, unleashed bullets into Antioch High School, killing Escalante — before turning the gun on himself.

Another injured student was rushed to Vanderbilt University Hospital with an abrasion to her arm, but she is in stable condition.

Terrifying footage showed the shooting unfolding in the cafeteria, as gunshots and screams echoed through the lunchroom.

You see an unknown cameraman get closer to the scene of the shooting and say, “Oh, he shot himself.”

The shooter, Solomon Henderson, and one of his victims died during the incident while the second victim was transported to Vanderbilt University Hospital and is in stable condition.

The edge of what appears to be a person lying on the tile floor is briefly visible before the clip ends.

“Antioch High School is on lockdown due to shots being fired into the school building. Metro Police are on scene,” a statement from Metro Nashville Public Schools said at the time.

“The person responsible for the shooting no longer poses a threat. We gather the students in the auditorium and provide information about the reunification as soon as possible.

“This is an active crime scene and investigation. We will work with the MNPD to provide further updates as they become available.”

A student in the cafeteria at the time of the incident described the terrifying scene.

“People in the cafeteria are using chip bags to make it sound like a gun, but it went off repeatedly and I turned around and I saw the gunman shooting people I knew,” 12th grader Ahmadsallah told WZTV.

“The shooter was somewhat covered, he had a hood on. It was just a rush, it made me want to do something crazy. I tried to run outside to help people, but my mind was so cluttered that I didn't know what to do.

'There was a lot of screaming, a lot of fear. People were afraid of dying, there was running as if someone was chasing them, as if he were a monster that only killed people.

“I feel relieved and safe, but I feel sorry for the victims who lost their lives,” he added.

Chante Frye, whose daughter is in ninth grade at the school, said she received a text message from the youngster saying she was locked in her classroom.

“But it's almost not surprising because it's getting worse and worse with the fighting and violence at school,” Frye told The Tennessean.

Local lawmaker John Ray Clemmons, whose district includes the school, called the shooting an “unspeakable tragedy.”

Metro Nashville police said the incident is under investigation. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said it is also investigating.

Antioch High School serves approximately 2,000 students in grades nine through twelve.
