Late in a game against the Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin threw wild punches at an opponent after being encountered in the heat of the moment.
Senators star Brady Tkachuk crossed Shesterkin's crease and appeared to make contact with the goalie, prompting a swarm of Rangers players around him.
As the scrum made its way out of the crease and behind the net, Shesterkin appeared to roll across the ice in pain.
The Russian netminder was hunched over on the ice and appeared to have suffered an injury to his groin or knee.
Shesterkin finally got to his feet before he saw Tkachuk with his helmet off and found his second wind, charging at the Senators player.
The goaltender began throwing wild punches with his glove and his blocker as Tkachuk appeared to take on three Rangers players at once, including defenseman Braden Schneider and forward Matt Rempe.

Rempe has built a reputation as one of the youngest and most willing fighters in the league.
Shesterkin continued to try to reach Tkachuk, but Canadian referee Cody Beach managed to break him up.
When asked what he thought when he saw Shesterkin going after Tkachuk, Rempe told reporters he was, “A little nervous because I don't want anything to happen to him, but I love it because he's a competitor.” I want to make sure I get in there and nothing happens, but it was great. Igor is the man.'
A total of seven penalties were awarded as a result of the scrum, with Shesterkin receiving a two-minute penalty for leaving his crease.
Rempe and Tkachuk each received two separate sentences for their actions against each other. Tkachuk also received a two-minute goaltender interference penalty.
Finally, Ottawa's Shane Pinto served a two-minute penalty for a roughing on Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren.
New York won the game 5-0, with Shesterkin recording a shutout. Goals were scored by Alexis Lafreniere, Arthur Kaliyev, Rempe, Artemi Panarin and Will Cuylle.
The Rangers have had a rough season so far. After making it to the Eastern Conference Finals last season and expecting the team to compete again this season, they now sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division and are two points back of a Wild Card spot.
