Sunny Hostin claimed President Donald Trump is a “DEI” mercenary as she railed against the Republican's first orders for his second term.
In response to Trump's announcement that he would be doing away with diversity, equity and inclusion policies, The View co-host used a pun to say Trump didn't deserve it — and instead gained the world's highest office through nepotism.
“Donald Trump says things about this country being a meritocracy, you're talking about a man who became president of the United States not because of his merit,” Hostin said.
She argued that Trump did not deserve the presidency because he had “no political experience” before winning the White House for the first time.
“He got everything he got,” Sonny continued. 'He's an older mercenary. If anything, he's a DEI hire, a 'no-earn' hire, so those are just some of the things I was thinking about.”
Hostin then brought up Martin Luther King's legacy and how it differs from Trump's vision for the country.
“All I was thinking about was the hypocrisy of the fact that a man would be inaugurated as president on the same day we commemorate MLK, and that same man would say he would abolish diversity, equality and inclusion,” Hostin said. said.

The new Trump administration sent a letter Tuesday to all heads and acting heads of government agencies, informing them that all federal employees in DEI positions must be on paid leave on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
All DEI offices in federal agencies will also be closed in the move, which comes after Trump signed an anti-DEI executive order before a cheering crowd during his inauguration on Monday.
Hostin also called out rappers Snoop Dogg and Nelly for performing at opening events honoring Trump.

Hostin and co-host Ana Navarro revealed that they chose not to tune into Trump's inauguration on Monday.
