Former Green Bay Packers running back Calvin Jones has died at the age of 54.
Jones, who played college football for Nebraska and won the 1997 Super Bowl with the Packers, was found dead by first responders at his Omaha home.
Omaha police told KETV that Jones' death was “indicative of carbon monoxide poisoning.”
It is reported that Jones told his neighbor that he was having problems with his furnace. As a result, it was cold in his house and he had to use a generator.
Police officers assisted the fire brigade after reports of a gas smell coming from the home. They found Jones deceased in the basement.
Jones played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1990 to 1993. He collected 3,166 rushing yards and scored 40 touchdowns.

Jones was then drafted into the NFL in the third round by the Raiders in 1994.
He played two seasons with the Raiders before spending the final year of his NFL career with the Packers.
Jones helped Green Bay beat the New England Patriots 35-21 in Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans. In 16 career NFL games, Jones had 112 rushing yards.
Jones was inducted into the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
In a statement, Nebraska Football wrote: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Husker legend and Super Bowl champion Calvin Jones. Our thoughts go out to the Jones family and he will be greatly missed.”
