A celebrated restaurant from West Australia is forced to close its doors because of the heartbreaking battle of the chef against cancer.

Laiaan, a snack cafe from the Middle East in Geraldton, in the middle of Washington, served customers for the last time last Sunday.

The company has been confronted with various challenges for the past seven months, but the final blow was then made by founder and chef Nadeem Turkiyah the lymphoma four in stage four.

Mr. Turkiyah was forced to travel to Darwin to get chemotherapy and to be closer to his family.

The staff had to deal with rising operating costs and did their best to keep the door of the eatery open, but in the absence of Mr. Turkiyah this was too much for them.

Mr. Turkiyah uploaded a heartbreaking video to Facebook the day before Laiaan stopped and said that the step was a 'very difficult decision' to make.

'We did our best, even the community tried it [to help us] To keep the club running, but unfortunately we had to make the difficult decision, “he said.

“The whole team tried to keep pushing and keep trying, but it was bad luck.”

Mr. Turkiyah thanked the staff and the locals for their hard work and support.

'I cherish the memories of the two and a half years that I have spent there and look forward to returning. My apologies for the closure of Laian, but sometimes things are outside of our power, “he told Perth Now.

The local population was shocked by the devastating announcement of Mr. Turkiyah and thanked him for offering a high -quality eating experience to the local community.

'I'm really sorry to hear this sad news. Thank you for all the great meals and support over the years, “someone wrote on social media.

'You all worked so hard and brought a unique and beautiful range of food and taste to Geraldton. We will miss you enormously! ' Another person wrote.

“Your menu was delicious and I couldn't wait to see the changes in the seasons through your menu,” one third added.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Laian for further comments.

Laian was founded in 2022 and the restaurant soon became fully booked because the locals enjoyed the unique dishes and culinary style of the eatery.

The restaurant was recognized as one of the 100 best restaurants in the Western Australia Good Food Guide 2023.

Mr. Turkiyah could also be seen in an episode of the popular SBS show The Cook Up, presented by celebrity chief Adam Liaw.

The journey of Mr. Turkiyah to open Laian, named after his sister, started after he arrived in Darwin in 2016 in 2016, together with his family as Syrian refugees.

He went on vacation to Geraldton, where he cooked the dinner for the locals.

This step led Mr. Turkiyah to take out an interest-free loan and then he opened the restaurant near the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral.

“It was an absolute pleasure to be of service, we made so many memories and have become one big family,” said Mr. Turkiyah.

'Hopefully there will be a chance to come back. We keep trying. “
