Dallas Cowboys have flooded the social media with criticism of the franchise decision to hire Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach.

On Friday evening it was announced that the attacking coordinator had been chosen by owner Jerry Jones to replace Mike McCarthy in what will be his first job as a head coach in the NFL.

The 51-year-old Schottenheimer, son of the late NFL coach Marty Schottenheimer, joined the Dallas staff as an adviser in 2022 and held the title attacking coordinator while McCarthy was the play-caller in the past two seasons.

McCarthy and the cowboys separated earlier this month after his first five -year contract ended at the club. He then interviewed Chicago, but the Bears hired Ben Johnson instead.

In what is described as a little inspiring decision, cowboys fans ventilate their anger on social media.

One noted: “The franchise waited until 10 p.m. to make this announcement because it is such a joke.”

Another wrote: “Literally the worst head coach I've ever seen … Last season I didn't even call a game and he received a job in which he has to make a game plan on both sides of the ball …”

A third posted: “This is the moment when I might be a fan base.”

“What are we doing here?” Another asked. '51 years old, not seen as HC for years and he has been hired? This team is not serious. ”

One fan added: 'Fan here, you have alienated your life so much that I am no longer interested in the performance of this team. Doesn't it matter to win? Now that I don't. “

The anger continued with another explanation: “Good God … It would have been better to keep Mike McCarthy if this was the best they could do.”

A passionate fan called it a 'despicable decision' and promised 'to boycott this organization after 40 years!'.

The Cowboys interviewed the attacking coordinator of Eagles, Kellen Moore, former Jets Chief Coach Robert Saleh, former Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier and had a conversation with Colorado's Deion Sanders.

“Brian Schottenheimer is known as a career assistant,” Jones said at the announcement of the deal. “He's no longer Brian. He is now known as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. ”

There is only one head coach opening in the NFL: New Orleans Saints.

Schottenheimer will be officially presented as head coach of Cowboys on Monday.

Reports show that he has already started forming his technical staff in Dallas, where the dismissed Bears coach Matt Eberflus is an important candidate for the position of defensive coordinator.

While many other teams hire exciting names to lead their franchise, fans have rejected Jones and the Cowboys since ties with Scottenheimer emerged.

Colin Cowherd from Fox even claimed that the controversial owner Jones was 'lost at sea'.

In a three -minute monologue about his show, Cowherd said: 'We look at the fall of a large American institute. He doesn't even apply for other jobs.

'Never been a head coach, never been a top candidate for head coach. He jumped through the competition, father was a legend … Nice guy, but seven to ten football teams do not leave their coach and then rent the attacking coordinator who has not mentioned a game. '

Schottenheimer wandered around in the NFL during his coaching career, starting as an assistant in 1997 at St. Louis Rams.

He was OC with the Jets, Rams, Seahawks and Cowboys – and studied with Georgia – while he also dropped out to become QB's coach at the Colts and Redskins.

His father Marty is a Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer who won NFL Coach of the Year with the Chargers in 2004 and was in charge of Arrowhead for nine years.
