Congress woman Anna Paulina Luna has presented a daring addition to Mount Rushmore.

The Florida representative announced on Friday that she is officially submitting legislation to add the face of President Donald Trump to the iconic monument.

“In fact, I know the legislation while we speak,” Luna wrote in a message about X (formerly Twitter) and responded to a video by Benny Johnson in which Corey Lewandowski made the same suggestion.

“What are we waiting for? Donald Trump's face should be on Mount Rushmore. We have the voices. Trump is going to sign it. Let's get it done to commemorate what this man has achieved for this country, “said Lewandowski during his appearance on the Benny show.

Mount Rushmore, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, is a huge granite sculpture with the 60-foot long faces of four American presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

These presidents were chosen to represent important milestones in American history: the birth of the nation (Washington), expansion (Jefferson), Development (Roosevelt) and Preservation (Lincoln).

The idea for Mount Rushmore originated in the 1920s with South Dakota historian Doane Robinson, who hoped to stimulate tourism in the region.

Sculptor Gutzon Borglum was chosen for the project because of his experience with large -scale sculptures.

Construction started in 1927 and continued until 1941. The project, mainly funded by federal government subsidies, concerned more than 400 employees who used dynamite, exercises and chisels to cut the monument.

The original plan included the upper bodies of the presidents, but it was reduced due to financing and time limitations.

Gutzon Borglum died in 1941 and left his son Lincoln Borglum to supervise the completion.

Although Mount Rushmore has become a symbol of American pride and democracy, it remains controversial.

The Black Hills are sacred to the people of Lakota Sioux and the American government grabbed the country contrary to treaties.

Nowadays, Mount Rushmore attracts more than two million visitors every year, which is both a monumental artwork and a site of historical and cultural significance.
