A flight from United Airlines from Nigeria was forced to make an emergency landing after six people were injured after an unexpected shock in the air.

Washington, DC-bound flight 613 was taken back to Lagos after a technical problem and an unexpected aircraft movement on Friday, according to the airline.

The Boeing 787-8 aircraft with 245 passengers, eight stewardesses and three pilots left on board on Thursday evening.

Flighttradar24 data showed that according to CNN, the aircraft fell abruptly from cruising height 93 minutes after taking off.

Allegedly showed images that were caught by passengers showed chaos on the plane with food, drawers and personal items spread over the plane.

“It landed safely in Lagos and four passengers and two flight attendants were seen in a hospital for minor injuries and were released,” said a spokesperson for United Airlines.

It is unclear what the sudden movement has caused, but United said that they are working together with aviation authorities in the US and Nigeria to understand the cause.

Flightful data showed the same aircraft on the same trip from Lagos to Washington's Dulles International Airport was previously diverted on Tuesday.

That flight quickly flee for about 89 minutes and was diverted to Accra, Ghana. It is unknown whether the two diversions are related.

Last week a Cathay Pacific flight from Boston was forced to make an emergency landing after smoke was reported in the cabin minutes after taking off.

Flight CX811, an A350-1000 on its way to Hong Kong, stopped climbing at around 5,000 ft, according to Aviation News Site Air Live.

The crew declared an emergency shortly after he left EST at 2:04 am in Boston Logan International Airport.

The flight then held Massachusetts Bay to dump fuel before he returned to Bos Airport, according to reports.

Flight trackers show that it runs around several times in front of the east coast before he makes his way back.

Air traffic controllers have made it clear for landing at the airport a little more than an hour after it started, and it was met after the landing by emergency vehicles.

Massport, the port authority of Massachusetts, said that the plane landed 'without incidents', but did not provide any further information.

In a statement to DailyMail.com, Cathay Pacific said that the flight has reduced a precautionary flight to Logan International Airport in accordance with standard procedures after a report of smoke in the cockpit and hut shortly after taking off.

'The plane normally landed at 3:31 (local time) and returned to the gate where our engineers are now investigating and conducting inspections. No injuries have been reported to our customers or crew. '
