Target is forbidden to participate in the Minneapolis Pride Parade After the store had decided to tag his Dei program.
The retailer has long supported Twin Cities Pride, but after the news had broken the company that decides to reduce the policy, Andi Otto of the Pride Organization forbade the store and the $ 55,000 in financing.
The Parade organization went to social media on Sunday to share that the decision of the company – announced in a newsletter on Friday – was 'The Breaking Point', although Target was expected to sponsor the Parade again this year.
The retail giant announced the drastic change after President Donald Trump established orders last week to break diversity, policy and inclusion policy throughout the country.
“During 2025 we will accelerate the action in important areas and implement changes with the aim of stimulating growth and to stay in step with the developing external landscape,” Target said.
As part of that change, the company said that it is planning to terminate its three-year-old Dei objectives, to conclude its racial stock action and change (RAC) initiatives, to stop 'external diversity-oriented surveys', and repeat its 'superior diversity' “Supplier involvement.”
The former programs of the company were aimed at recruiting more various suppliers, including those with a disability, veterans, women and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Target also made it a point to hire and promote more women and members of racial minority groups.

Otto said the Star Tribune that although the company has previously 'always supported me and the impact that their choices have made on the community,' he does not want Target to be part of the festivities for longer.
“But unfortunately, at a time when it has been a real, very tough week for our community, given everything that comes from the new administration, this was a kind of drop that broke the back of the camel.”
Twin Cities Pride officially announced the 'daring decision' on social media, which states that although the absence of Target at the Parade 'means that it loses $ 50,000 in financing, “it had to be done.
The group urged the community to donate to Twin Cities Pride instead to help 'fill the gap' of the lost money.
“Your donation will ensure that we can continue to program all year round, be able to proudly celebrate with authenticity and create safe, inclusive spaces for everyone,” read the mail.
Dailymail.com contacted Target for comment on the decision.
This is not the first time that the target has been in the dei Spotlight, because the store was previously confronted with a recoil for the sale of merchandise with pride theme for children.
Since 2013, the retailer has sold inclusive clothing, but prior to his Pride Product Release in June 2024, the company chose to scale back its children's clothing in that department.

The options for adults only come a year after calls to boycott the brand about his collection, including 'Tuck-friendly' swimsuit and T-shirts for children with the slogan: 'Transmensen will always exist!'
The company then only decided to release that specific clothing to about half of its 2,000 stores throughout the country, “based on historical sales performance,” Bloomberg reported earlier.
When it was first confronted with a recoil, the indignation grew to the point that various stores received bomb threats if they did not pull the clothing line and refueled the company's share price with more than $ 10 billion.
Right -wing customers broke out in anger with some offers, including children's literature such as 'Bye Bye Binary' and Wall Posters Reading, “Ask me about my pronouns.”
Calendars read 'queer all year round' were also the products, with others, including rainbow -covered children's clothing and adult bodies.

Target CEO Brian Cornell pulled the merchandise from the stores just a few days before the Pride Month started in the midst of the controversy and defended the move by noticing the bomb threats and hostility aimed at his employees.
“I saw natural disasters, the impact of Covid, the violence that took place after the murder of George Floyd,” he told CNBC at the time.
“But I will tell you what I saw in May is the first time I was in this job where I said shop team members:” It's not safe to come to work. “
'We had to prioritize the safety of our teams … and I personally knew that this would not be received properly. But we had to prioritize the safety of the team. '
