An Aussie -Shopper has issued an urgent warning after a popular pickle jar sold in KMART and Target exploded in its fridge.

Sally Asplin bought three Anko Glass Flip Pickle Jars after the item went viral on social media because of the ability to separate vegetables from brine.

Mrs. Asplin discovered that the pot she had filled with beet had exploded on the shelf and left her fridge covered with hot pink juice.

“Everyone has ever explored one of these pots in your fridge,” Mrs. Asplin asked in a message on Doel, Kmart & Big W Inspired, Decor & Hacks Facebook group on Saturday.

Aussies explained that some foods, including red beet, were not suitable for storage in the pot due to a structure of gas during the fermentation process.

Dedicated drinks or fermenting foods leads to a build -up of gas, so that pressure in the pot can break the seal or even the glass.

It comes only two months after another Anko Glass Flip Pickle Jar exploded and caused that glass flew to a woman while she brought her groceries away.

The woman explained in a post of social media that she heard a loud bang next to her head and initially thought that her kitchen light had exploded.

“Fortunately I had bent my head to the sharper because the glass could have got my eyes, there were small pieces of glass plus large pieces,” the woman wrote.

She spent two hours cleaning up the mess after the lid and sealed both.

KMart and Target Customers are encouraged to read the instructions of the product that clearly outline the food to prevent them from storing in the pot.

“Certain foods are not ideal for storage in glass flip -ougurk pots because of their properties or the design of the pot,” said the instructions.

Food to prevent you from saving in the Anko Glass Flip Pickle Jar

Golded drinks or fermenting foods: the build -up of gas (of carbonation or fermentation) can cause pressure that the seal or the pot can break.

Hot or hot food: If the pot is not heat resistant or designed for temperature changes, hot food can crack the glass or endanger the lid sealing mechanism.

Enlarge or fat food for long-term storage: oils can sometimes deteriorate the silicone or rubber seal rings over time, especially in non-food jars.

Strong acid foods: Very sour items (eg pure vinegar, citrus juices) can corrode the metal parts of the lid if the pot uses a flip-top mechanism with metal hinges, although the glass itself is usually fine.

Frozen Foods: Food based on liquid that expand when frozen can crack the glass, unless the pot is specifically freezed and has sufficient headroom left.

Powders or fine grains without the correct seal: fine grains, such as herbs in powder form, leak or freshness if the seal is not airtight.
