A man from New York City had cut off four of his fingers as he defended his dog against a machete -swinging maniac on the street – and bravely proclaimed 'I would do it again'.

Rakeem Tayquon Young, 34, walked on Friday morning with his beloved three -year -old pit bull, Chanel, in the Bronx when the mean attacker approached them.

Surveillance images captured Young and his puppy who ran near Southern Blvd. and E. 178th St. in East Tremont at around 11:20 am when Chanel stopped to approach another dog.

That is then the crazy attacker, dressed in orange boots and a green hat, confronted the duo and brought out his knife.

“He said,” Yo, get your dog. I am [going to] Chop her head, “Young told the New York Daily News.

“And then the guy just waved the knife to me for no clear reason. I remember my hand and said, “No! No!” I just tried to protect [Chanel]. And you know, I would do it again. '

The stranger cut off the fingers of Young when the protective owner lifted his hand to protect Chanel against the knife.

“He went to hit me a second time after he had cut my hand,” said Young. “He waved in front of my face. He went back to the knife, and that is when [Chanel] he attacked. '

The attacker – who did not caught the police – fled the stage and Young was behind him.

“I run on the street and miss the fingers,” said Young. 'When he first got the [machete]I looked and saw that my fingers had disappeared. After that I couldn't look anymore. '

“I couldn't believe it. It wasn't even painful because it might have been normal, because my adrenaline and everything. '

Medici could restore and confirm three of his missing fingers, but one finger was lost on the street.

“In fact, they put my pointer finger like my middle finger and my middle finger as my ring finger,” Young said. “So I just miss my index finger. They couldn't find the ring finger. '

The police are still looking for the attacker and Young and his family are worried that they have not made any arrests.

'When that [UnitedHealthcare] CEO was killed, they did everything to detect him, to build on building, “said Young.

'You are going to tell me all these buildings on E. Tremont Ave. In the Bronx that cameras has received, you can't detect it? Because my fingers are missing and for me, that is a problem. This will affect me for the rest of my life. '

The aunt of Young, Tashemia Young, takes care of Chanel while he recovers and is worried that the attacker is still on the street.

'I come out to walk to dogs, what about this man has the feeling that he cannot finish the job and he wants to do something? It's very scary, “she told Wabc.

Young's mother, Kimtreese Young, launched a GoFundme to raise money for his medical costs.

“My son, Rakeen Young, was attacked in NYC on Friday morning by a mentally ill man trying to drop off his dog with a machete knife,” she said.

“My son, who tried to protect his dog and block the blow, finally got four of his fingers. He needs a lot of medical care, as well as intense physiotherapy, which unfortunately cannot afford to us. '
