It took two days, but after he had scraped around in his closet, Anthony finally found Albanese his spine and said what had to be said about Grace Tame's clothing choice while attending the morning tea of the PM's Australia Day.
The former Australian of the year wore an 'F *** Murdoch' T-shirt to the official event in the Lodge on Saturday.
Albo described that she did this as disrespectful attention track behavior that detracted from the performance of those who were held the event in honor of.
“I thought it was disrespectful for the event and of the people for whom that event was in the first place,” he said in a radio interview on Monday.
The prime minister also said what Tame did was “disappointing,” “was not suitable,” “was clearly designed to attract attention,” and “taken away from the people who were there.”
Well said.
Unfortunately, Albo and his fiancé Jodie Hayden smelled in real time and posed with tame for photos, ignoring the vulgar words that they both stare in the face when greeting.
You could not wear this T-shirt around children, in a pub or club, and it can even be considered too much at a protest in Australia … So after her second stunt in a morning tea in Australia, Grace Tame will be in the future Not invited to these types of events, writes Peter van Onselen
Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon were put on the spot with Tame's decision to wear the profane T -shirt – smiling at the former Australian of the year and pose with her for a photo
Grace Tame of all people would certainly have been understanding if Albo had refused to participate in such a photo. Or maybe refused to smile for it?
This is not the first time that we have seen such a bad behavior through TAM during this event. Do you remember that notorious photo with Scott Morrison?
Unfortunately, because of her repetitive youth behavior, she should not be invited to such events in the future. That is despite all the good work that some of Tame's activism has achieved over the years.
Knowing how to worn – as the prime minister ultimately noticed when asked about Tame's actions – should be a condition for attending this kind of official events.
A demonstrator who wears that clothing would certainly be removed and possibly fined.
You could not be in the public gallery of the parliament that was wearing that shirt.
You couldn't even get away with it in many clubs and pubs throughout the country.
You could certainly not wear it if you are around children.
It is difficult not to agree with the characterization of Albo of the T-shirt stunt as something other than looking for attention.
Tame caused a scene at the same event in 2022 when she gave Scott Morrison this side eye when she greeted the then prime minister
The fact that Tame is successful time and time again in her Histrionics does not change the fact that attention is that the primary goal is-as I have called in the past when she has leveled her side to Morrison.
I was a strong critic of Morrison's premiership, but even then I said: “(Tame) didn't have to play the role of Court Jester or be fake. Just be a decent person, that's all.
'If that was not possible, why would you not be present at all? In his Canberra House, no less. It is not like the person who lives there would not be there.
'If your contempt for the man is so great (perhaps understandable) that you cannot even collect basic and ordinary courtesy, just don't go. That would be reasonable. Many people would understand. '
And Common Courtesy was forgotten again during the weekend.
Attempts to claim the real goal of wearing the shirt was a kind of political or philosophical statement about the Murdoch Media is a furphy.
It's all about grace. Or to be honest, maybe it's 99 percent about grace.
If Tame seriously thinks that she does not pursue the spotlights – that it just follows her – then perhaps a sit -down self -reflection time is already too late.
Tame will be seen later that day with her ex-partner and good friend Max Heerey at the Australian of the Year Awards
It can make her realize how undesirable it is to use her profile to remove the spotlights from all those community -oriented people who have been nominated for prices that event was designed to honor.
Although Albo may have only decided to call TAM on this occasion after he sat down with his spin doctors and pollsters, he finally arrived.
It must have been a nice rated calculation: risking the future wrath of Tame who attacked him because he criticized her compared to the appearance of Australia as too weak to call her.
Eventually Albo went with the last option and realized that the silent majority would immediately have formed the view that Tame's clothing was inappropriate and disrespectful when they first saw it.
