A shirtless man was refused a ride after a bus driver was delivered that his lack of clothing felt uncomfortable other passengers.
The man tried to get on the bus after a dive on the beach in Coogee, the eastern suburbs of Sydney, but he only wore the board shorts and strings on Sunday.
He also had a towel, but no shirt, and the driver told him he couldn't ride on his bus.
The incident was shared on Reddit, where most social media users agreed that a dress code had to be followed.
Bus operator Transdev John Holland told Daily Mail Australia that he could not talk about the specific incident, but said there were rules to stick to.
“Bus drivers consider various factors when they serve a service,” said a spokesperson.
'One of the most important factors is the safety of all passengers and questions about hygiene.
“We will remind all drivers of their obligations to guarantee high standards for customer service.”
Passengers board a bus on their way to Coogee, where a man was refused by a driver
Transdev John Holland -Bus drivers follow the regulation of passenger transport (2017).
It explains that a driver can lead a passenger to leave a bus whether the body, clothing or luggage or luggage of the person can harm or damage the vehicle or clothing or luggage of other passengers.
They can also refuse if their luggage is of a size that cannot be housed without jeopardizing or in danger or other passengers or the driver.
Social media users asked what the clothing rules were to ride on public transport.
“When I was trained as a bus driver, this was in the training, but that was more than 20 years ago,” they wrote.
But practically, if the driver doesn't want you on the bus, you don't go on the bus. “
A professional bus driver came in to clarify the rules and confirmed that his colleague did the right thing to refuse to leave the man.
“Eastern Suburbs bus driver here,” he said.
'There has always been a clothing regulations and due to health and safety regulations we should not leave people without a shirt or shoes.
'Some drivers have always forced it, others cannot be bothered by. Nobody wants to sit on a chair that you just sat on, nor do they want to be pressed against your shirtless body on a busy bus. This also applies to girls in bikini tops.
“A memo went to drivers from our company to maintain them a few weeks ago.”
Most social media users agreed that the shirtless passenger was wrong and should not have tried to continue with the risk of making fellow riders uncomfortable.
“I don't give to see topless dudes, but it's a bit coarse on a hot day to sweat on a bus chair without a shirt on,” they wrote.
'It's a no of mine and I am not prudish. I'm here at the bus driver. '
Another posted: “It is fair enough, but having said that, I see girls going to the gym all the time in the gym in sports bra's in the early morning.”
There was one user of social media who thought that the bus driver could have shown more common sense and showed the man, since he could have covered reasonably well.
'Even if this was a real rule, he could certainly have been allowed to wrap his towel around him. It seems ridiculous, “they said.
