Kaitlan Collins of CNN accused the government of Donald Trump of violating the law during a fiery exchange with press secretary Karoline Leavitt of the White House.
During Tuesday's conference in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room, Collins Leavitt grilled on the controversial cleansing of President Trump when firing 17 Inspector General and accused the White House of not following the law.
She wondered how the administration “decides to follow which laws and which they should ignore?”
In her very first press conference as the youngest mentioned press secretary in history at the age of 27, Leavitt Trump defended, with the argument that he had the power and authority to make that call.
“He is the executive of the executive power and that is why he has the power to dismiss someone within the executive he wishes,” Leavitt said for defense.
Trump shot more than a dozen inspector -general in a purification of government watch dogs that immediately generate his concern about Capitol Hill.
The White House did not publicly announce the massacre or gave any explanation why those officials, who have the task of evaluating federal departments about issues such as the law and the use of tax money, abruptly let go.
Among them were Inspector Generals for the Defense departments, State, Transport, Veteran Affairs, Housing and Urban Development, Interior and Energy.

Every government watchdog received an e -mail on Friday evening with the announcement that their employment was terminated immediately.
The movement led to criticism from both the Republican and the Democratic legislators who believe that the president has violated a federal law that would receive the congress of a 30-day notification of such fired.
Collins fired these concerns to Leavitt at the Tuesday conference and repeated the absence of the administration to inform the congress within the legal period.
“I think there were only two lagging behind the DHS and the Doj, and yesterday we saw that various public prosecutors were fired from the Ministry of Justice, who worked on the investigations into the president,” Collins said
“As you know, they are career officers of justice, that's why they get a protection from officials,” she added.
“How does the administration decide to follow which laws and which to ignore?”
Leavitt broke back and argued that it is the faith of the White House and the office of De Witte Huis that the president was within his executive authority to do that. '

The press secretary of the White House continued to tell Collins to look at Scalia Law LLC versus the Bureau Protection, a case that went for the Supreme Court in 2020.
The case investigated the extent of the president's appointment and removal powers and the decision ultimately expanded the president's assets to remove the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, according to ballot pedia.
Leavitt said that the specific matter was the legality that the White House delivered with regard to Trump's decision.
Collins also suggested that Trump might have had some kind of personal vendetta against certain prosecutors, especially those who have worked on research into him.
“So you are convinced that if they bring lawsuits against you, the prosecutors who have been fired, you will succeed?” Collins asked Leavitt.
“We'll be in court, yes,” Leavitt replied.
“And he personally focused this, since they worked on the classified document research and the election interference research,” Collins added.
Leavitt replied: “This was a memo that went through the presidential office and the president is the leader of this White House, so yes.”
