Rush hour chaos for London commuters as rail lines are blocked after person is hit by train

Spitsuur Chaos unfolded for commuters in London after a person was struck by a train this afternoon.

Lines are currently blocked and emergency services are on the site of the tragedy in East Croydon.

A spokesperson for the southern rail said: 'It is with great sadness that we report that a person was hit by a train in East Croydon.

'All lines are blocked while the emergency services work to tackle this incident. Service information follows. '

Because the first announcement officers have advised that some rules are open again, but added: “Your journey will still be delayed.”

An eyewitness explained: 'My train stopped about 30 minutes just before Selhurst. When we arrived in East Croydon, everyone seemed to rush to platform 6 to catch the first train that was ready to leave in the direction of Gatwick.

'Platform 1 was completely blocked for access and station personnel said clearly that someone was hit by a train, which caused major delays. It happened at the front of the station. '

Southern Rail has said that all services to and from London have been hit and have advised posted commuters to find an alternative route.

A spokesperson for the southern rail said:

It is expected that the disruption will take place until the end of the day in the area, although tickets are valid on alternative Southern and Thameslink services on 'any reasonable route to your destination'.

Another person who was put on social media: “Question – when will my train move or when do you let us walk away to walk the rest of the road?”

A spokesperson for the southern rail replied: “We would advise you to listen to announcements about this.”

A complete list of valid alternative service routes is as follows:

South Western Railway Services between Portsmouth/Southampton/Havant and Clapham Junction/London Waterloo; London underground on a reasonable route; MetroBus routes between Redhill and Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges and Brighton; Tramlink Services between East Croydon, West Croydon, Mitcham Junction and Wimbledon.
