Former senator of New Jersey Bob Menendez has been sentenced to 11 years in prison because he participated in a bribery scheme that earned him gold bars, thousands of cash, a luxury car and more.
The plan, involving the wife of the former senator and three business people, saw the Democrat favors handing out for those who could pay his price.
In the past, the powerful chairman of the Senate Function for Foreign Relations, Menendez, 71, was found guilty of all 16 crime counts with which he was confronted in July for crimes with regard to favors he took out.
He was bribed by New Jersey -Kingman and did the offering of Egypt and Qatar, claimed American federal prosecutors.

Menendez, an influential democratic senator from New Jersey for almost two decades before he resigned in August 2024, began to cry during the hearing.
“Honorable, you have a matched man for you,” said the tearing Democrat who roamed the corridors of the congress only a few months ago.
“I have devoted my entire life to the service of others,” he went on. 'I am far from a perfect man, but I believe in my half century of public services. I have done more than bad. '
