A BBC evaluation in the led of Russell Brand during his time at the broadcaster found that a number of people “felt unable to” arouse worries about him and believed that he would “always get his way.”

The review was carried out by Peter Johnston, BBC director of editorial complaints and assessments, and focused on the behavior of the brand on BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 between 2006 and 2008.

The actor and comedian, 49, has denied accusations of rape, abuse and emotional abuse and said earlier that all his sexual relationships were 'absolutely always consensual'.

In September 2023, a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, the Times and Channel 4 shipments revealed that four women had accused him of sexual attacks between 2006 and 2013.

The review, which cost £ 662,060, looked at report brand Urinating in cups or bottles in the studio, threw objects, accusations of sex in the field, including competition winners and exposure in the studio for staff and guests' and on-Air comments.

It also investigated the management 'shortcomings', including his relationship with the then controller of Radio 2 Lesley Douglas, who resigned about a brand call brand made to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

From the complaints against the brand, only one, which was applied to him in a cup during a Radio 2 show, formally registered at that time, and the BBC had admitted that it was 'not effectively treated'.

The employee who filed the complaint was described as 'very disappointed that nothing came' and asked to never work on the brand's show.

The unveiling of his findings, Mr. Johnston said: 'I am grateful for those who came forward to talk to me and my team and I apologized on behalf of the BBC to those who are most directly affected by what I here have documented.

'The culture of that time has undoubtedly influenced what was acceptable/tolerated, but I have discovered that a number of individuals were worried about the behavior of Russell Brand that they could not raise at the time.

'Many interviewees believed, rightly or wrongly, that Russell Brand would always get his way and that is why they were silent (and I note that my findings above the only complaint that was submitted in 2007 was not effectively dealt with when it was made) .

'The processes for expressing any worries were also not as developed as it is now.

“In the intervening years, the BBC introduced other mechanisms and routes for staff to express their concerns.”

In response to the report, the BBC said: 'The assessment considered eight complaints of misconduct about the Russell brand, of which only two were made while he was engaged by the BBC, one formal and one informal.

'It is a great concern that at the time some of these people were unable to concern the behavior of Russell Brand, and the BBC has apologized as part of this assessment.

'It is also clear that there was compliance with a shortcomings on some of the Radio 2 shows of Russell Brand who led to content that content was broadcast that would not be broadcast today. Russell Brand left the BBC in 2008 after a controversial editorial infringement.

'As has been reported, there is a constant police investigation into the Russell brand. The BBC had contact with the Metropolitan Police during the assessment and they have seen the report.

“The BBC acknowledges that Russell Brand categorically denies all public accusations against him.”

The company said: 'It is clear that presenters have been able to abuse their positions at the BBC', but there are changes in procedures since 2008, including a special process for the most serious accusations and worries, and an anti-bullying and intimidation policy, “

The review investigated a complaint from a woman who worked in the same building as the BBC's office in Los Angeles – in which she claimed that he flashed her in 2008 and later laughed at the meeting in his radio program.

Another statement looked at a claim of a woman called 'Alice', who claimed that BBC cars transported her, including her school to his house, when she was 16 and reportedly had a relationship with brand.

The brand is accused of a series of sex offenses, including sexual violence and rape by the women, some of whom were teenagers at the time of the alleged incidents.

The first allegations include a woman who claimed that brand raped her in 2013 without a condom against the wall of his house in Los Angeles. She was treated on a rape crisis on the same day, according to medical records that were seen by the Times.

Another woman claimed that he was sexually abused when she was 16 years old and was still at school in the UK.

A third claimed that brand her sexually abused while working with him in LA. She claimed that she repeatedly told him to get rid of her and when he finally 'turned'.

The fourth claimed that she was sexually attacked by the brand in the UK and accused him of being physically and emotionally offensive to her.

In the aftermath of the scandal, a fifth woman submitted a report to the metropolitan police and claimed that in 2003 she was sexually abused by the star in Soho, London.
