A 13-year-old boy died at a school in South Wales in what has been described as a 'tragic incident'.
The police have now started an urgent investigation into the death of the young teenager who took place at the Melin Primary School in the city of Neath.
The relatives of the boy have been informed with the family supported by local authorities.
The police of Zuid -Wales said: 'HM Coroner has been informed and death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
Neath Port Talbot Council said the school was closed.
'We are extremely sad to hear this tragic news and our thoughts go to the family, the police officers in Zuid -Wales are currently investigating and the council will offer possible help.
'Melin Primary School (Baby and Junior Sites) was closed on Wednesday 29 January. Support is made available to everyone who is affected.
“The school will open again on Thursday, January 30.”

Acting Headteacher Danielle Harris wrote a letter to parents and guardians and said: 'We want to inform you that Melin Primary School (Baby and Junior Sites) will reopen tomorrow (Thursday, January 30) after a tragic incident that took place on the school site in the beginning In the school grounds this morning.
'We understand that recent events have been painful and we want to assure you that the well -being of our students, employees and broader school community remains our top priority.
'Support services are available at the school to help everyone in need.
'If your child needs extra support, do not hesitate to contact us.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time.”
