A serial sex predator, who was seen 'smiling' and 'enjoying himself' while he attacked women and girls as 13.
Robert Emmerson, 40, would be on hold around an underpass in Manchester Center, near one of the most important universities of the city before he focused on female passers -by.
He was convicted of a series of sex offenses involving five victims after a trial in October – and was imprisoned today for four years and six months.
Alex Mann, Senior Crown's public prosecutor for Crown Prosecution Service North West, said: 'Robert Emmerson focused on women and girls as young as 13 in a remote Manchester underpass in broad daylight.
“He didn't think about the impact that his actions would have on the young women he attacked.
'Today's punishment should send a clear message that we will prosecute those who will perceive women and girls in the law – and I would encourage anyone who has fallen victim to sexual violence to come forward and to the police report. '
Jury members in the Manchester Crown Court trial heard the victims of Emmerson 'terrified' riding away after he had beaten them in the underpass under the Mancunian way while during 'daylight hours' to or back from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Emmerson denied all the charges, but a jury unanimously condemned him of five counts of sexual violence and seven counts of exposure.

The Crown Court of Manchester heard that the victims of Emmerson remembered how he 'smiled' and 'enjoy' while he attacked the women in a 'bear cuddle' before he put them on the floor and she was too.
Emmerson was identified as a suspect after the police had noticed a 'pattern' of violations between November 2023 and April last year.

Emmerson was traced by the police after the 'fast reports' of two alleged attacks on April 15, 2024. Officers were able to use CCTV to trace the movements of Emmerson, and he was arrested on April 22 in the house of his ex-partner in Wythenshawe .

Mr. Mann said after the process: 'His corrupt actions were exclusively performed because of his own sexual satisfaction and had a serious impact on those he attacked.
Emmerson was not only put in prison, but also made the subject of an order of sexual damage to life.

Emerson previously received a suspended prison sentence in 2015 for stalking four schoolgirls aged 14 and 15 years.
