Simon Horrocks and his partner Renee Nowytarger battle in to save the boy, who was brutally set up by a crowd of about 30 young people near Manly Wharf on the northern beaches of Sydney on Sunday 6 January just after 9 p.m. .
After they succeeded in having stamped the attackers in the middle of an intersection, Mr. Horrocks and Mrs. Nowytarger hurried to a Fratelli fresh restaurant and blocked the doors while the staff brought him out of safety .
Mr. Horrocks, a 58-year-old local father of one, was beaten several times and beaten by a bottle in the shoulder after he managed to get the boy from the scrum of attackers.
His partner, a multiple Walkley -drowned press photographer, escaped physical injury, but was spit several times when she protected the boy.
The couple saw the teenagers descend on him while they walked home after they had enjoyed a birthday meal for Mrs. Nowytarger in the restaurant of Manly.
Mr Horrocks, who is a sales manager for a start-up in Silicon Valley, told Daily Mail Australia that it was his partner who arrived to help without hesitation.
“I didn't really have a choice, it was Renee who showed the heroic instinct,” he said.

He said, however, that the few 'three or four' similar situations around Manly have seen, where teenagers chased each other and fought against each other and on an earlier occasion Mr. Horrocks said he came in to help a youth on the ground was beaten.
The couple had spoken about what they would do when he saw someone attacked and both agreed that they wanted to give an example for their children, whose hoped they would also be brave enough to help someone in need for a day .
“I don't think anyone knows what they will do in a loaded situation, but I think we would all want to think that we would be those who got in and out, especially if someone is in a serious risk,” Mr. Horrocks said.
While the couple killed the crowd outside the restaurant, where the doors were barricaded by customers in it, including interim nine CEO Matt Stanton, Mr. Horrocks said they radically different approaches.
He tried to reason with the crowd and told them that the police would arrive soon and that their intended victim was out of their reach.

'She has been in a number of pretty interesting situations – coups, bombing, war zones, the rest – and has trained with special powers about evacuation techniques and hostages and things like that.
“When we walked home later, I said:” You are sure that it was the right thing to do? I tried to calm things down, you almost tried to arouse them! ” And she said, “It's my training.”
“It worked for her.”
After the teenagers spread, the police found a knife on the spot, the Lord Horrocks said he was surprised.
Despite the learning that he was in a more risky situation than it could have appeared, Mr. Horrocks, originally from Manchester in the UK, said that he had my period.
He said that he migrated to Australia almost 13 years ago was because of the level of violence in London.
“I came to Australia when my daughter, Amelie, was four because we lived in Central London,” he said.

'There is a lot of knife crime in London. Every week there is a story about a child who is killed. We decided that we did not want to grow up.
'I am certainly aware of the danger (in Manly), but it is clear to me that it is not at a level that I lived with in London. I assume that knives are generally used for show around children.
“I would not say that I am blasé about it, but I am not terrified by knives either.”
Mr. Horrocks said he wanted to emphasize the positive points of life where he does that.
“I want people to know that things like this can happen in Manly, but it's not widespread,” he said.
'The northern beaches, Manly, have not turned into a kind of center of knife crime at night.
“We have not suddenly become a dangerous place to live.”
He said as a result of the widespread incident '… the community really came together'.
“That has a very positive impact with the police locally with the task force set up and the involvement with a local MP,” he said.
“We knew that detectives are working very hard on it. They told us that they would make two or three arrests for the weekend and they were as good as their word.
'The charges are riot and changes that are much more serious than the public condition.

'It immediately affected the safety of the locals.
'It made things safer for the Australia Day weekend. In Manly the presence of the police was considerably increased. '
After the founding of Strike Force Crookhaven, the police made three arrests in connection with the incident of 6 January.
There is no suggestion that one of those people is guilty of the incidents described in the night in question.
Emilio Martinez, 18 from Bonnyrigg Heights in southwestern Sydney, appeared on Wednesday morning in Manly Local Court accused of Affray and Rel.
After he was not guilty, Martinez was released on conditional bail with his next judicial appearance planned for March.
His bailing conditions include not entering the Northern Beaches LGA unless they attend the court and “be good behavior and follow all reasonable requests from his parents.”
Royce Jensen, 20 from Wyong on the NSW Central Coast, was also arrested and guilty of the common attack but not guilty of Riot's charges.
He remains in custody with his next court performance for February.
A boy, 15 years old, is confronted with two counts of common abuse, riot and relationship during the incident of 6 January.
He has received conditional bail to appear before a children's court in February.
