Dramatic images shows a huge stream of water, about twice the height of a double cover box, which drifts a busy street in Shepherd's Bush, West -London.
Cars and buses were seen through the water while pedestrians were soaked.
The water pipe burst on the busy A402 next to Shepherd's Bush Green – a road that leads to one of the busiest roundabouts in London.
Thames Water said that 'dealing with the incident', but witnesses described it as a 'long time' and 'hard to control'.
A passer -by said to MailOnline: 'I was soaked, I couldn't believe it.
'Cars waded through it and it came over their wheel arches – it has clearly been going on for a long time, but they cannot get a grip.
'Children play in the spray and E -scooters drive through it – if they are not careful, there will be an accident.
“It is one of the busiest roundabouts in London, so they better get a grip – and fast!”

A spokesperson for Thames Water said: 'We are currently on site who have to deal with a Burst -Water pipe in Shepherd's Bush Green, W12.
'We do everything we can to steal the large water flow so that we can repair the pipe as quickly as possible.
'We have ordered specialized equipment that is needed to start the repairs that have caused a slight delay.
“We apologize for the possible discomfort or disruption that this may have caused.”
It comes after five schools were forced to close and 40,000 houses were left without supplies after a burst pipe in Wales earlier this month.
De Pijp burst at Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Work in Conwy in Noord -Wales on January 15.
The water firm confirmed that only Conwy County had been hit, after houses in some cities in Debighshire had previously explained water.
Various schools and services were closed due to the incident, including five schools, two libraries in Llanrwst and Conwy, as well as Bordreinallt -surgery.

Conwy Valley Local, Martin Edwards, 60, said MailOnline: 'Bottled water could rise at the supermarkets.
'People will not only buy a few bottles that they will buy more than what they need, because they will not know for sure if the water will be tomorrow morning.
“The next thing you know, Aldi and Lidl will be without water and there are not many other places to buy water in Llandudno.”
The Welshman said that they had not received a correspondence from the water company about collecting bottle water – only two warning texts that were influenced.
“There is a water bottle center in Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay, but that is a fairly strange place to have it given that there is nothing for the Conwy valley,” he added: “That's about 20 miles away! '
