Jeremy Clarkson's Cotswolds Pub is confronted with a potentially devastating financial blow – it can be forced to close the enormous parking space with which it can welcome hundreds of gamblers at the same time because it is next to a historic grave.

The parking lot borders a listed old monument, a 1,400 year old cemetery with the remains of an Anglo -Saxon warlord, and there are suggestions that it can be damaged by the number of upcoming cars.

So there is now a growing local pressure to close the parking lot – which could en masse the number could influence that could visit.

The presenter spent £ 1 million to take the lead over the dog's dog, close to his base in the hugely popular Farm TV show of Clarkson and talked about how expensive the project has been – but he is dependent on car users To keep the hope of solvent.

A local who drinks in the pub said: “Clarkson's problems with the pub can go to another level if they let him close his parking space – the gamblers could not go to the pub.”

The brewing row focuses on its use of a rented out field of 34 hectares close to the pub.

As soon as Clarkson acquired the pub rental agreement, he knew he had to increase the parking capacity – because of what happened earlier when he opened his hugely popular Didly Squat Farm Shop near Chadlington, and it was in the show.

Fans soon came to their hundreds to cause traffic jams with gamblers who were parked for miles for miles on the grass-connected of narrow single tracks, blocking roads and anger in neighbors.

So Clarkson quickly concluded a deal with local landowners Edward and Patricia Walker to lease the field with motorists who charged £ 2 to park there, of which £ 1 would go to the walkers.

The package seemed to go well with cars that have flowed in and out since the opening of August in August last summer, all carefully managed by parking spaces that wear hi-fish jackets, such as Clarkson's Pub Tills Rank Day and Night.

But there are now calls to stop using the field because it is so close to the funeral hill.

Asthall Barrow, which dates from the seventh century AD, contains the cremated remains of a 'high-status individual', probably a warlord who divided the whole or part of one of the regional kingdoms where the country was divided into the dark centuries.

The wheelbarrow is mentioned and protected by the historic England in the heritage category of a 'planned monument' in the same way as Stonehenge.

But it is located on the western edge of the field that Clarkson uses as a parking space.

And for the long -term protection of the old hill, the locals suggest that it may be necessary to close the parking space – which sometimes turned into a mud bath over the wet winter.

Clarkson should then find an alternative field – and if he can't find it near enough to walk to the pub, he might even have to offer a shuttle bus for customers.

Minutes of the last Asthall Parish Council meetings noted: 'The (landing) parking space is probably a controversial issue, especially if the province's archaeologist objects. They had no objection to its temporary use (as an overflow parking park), but permanent use is a different matter.

'It was felt that (the movement of the landing park to) landed elsewhere on the other side of the road or further away with a shuttle bus would be a better option. It was of the opinion that the planning of enforcement should take more action.

'Parking was also raised with locals who are concerned about the use of a historic site for parking. The chairman has already contacted Oxford County Council with regard to the Archaeological Interest site. '

In summary, the parish council agreed that it should be a priority to 'protect the wheelbarrow as far as possible'.

Lynne Hughson, a local resident who is also chairman of the Asthall Parish Council, spoke with MailOnline to confirm the worries of the locals about the proximity of the overflow parking to the funeral hill:

She said: 'I think the minutes of the last few meetings [which express concern about the car park being so close to the burial site] reflects the opinion of the parish council. '

Parish councilors added that the case was not helped by the temporary user agreement that Clarkson granted to use the landing parking park that ends 'many months ago'.

A spokesperson for West Oxfordshire District Council confirmed that other options are considered 'the important historical site protect and meet relevant laws'.

The spokesperson said: 'We are aware of the expired temporary period of use for the overflow park plus the presence of the prehistoric wheelbarrow in the vicinity of the parking lot.

'We work together with De Boer's Dog Management to give advice on possible solutions that will protect the important historical site and meet relevant laws.

“Officers work closely with the archaeological team of Oxfordshire County Council as part of this work.”

The new development can be bad news for Clarkson while he prepares for the predicted boost with customers of the farmer's dog who will come up with the release of the new series of Amazon Prime's Clarkson's Farm in the spring, which has the opening of the pub.

The TV presenter – who recently had a heart surgery because of stress – recently spoke about how desperate the pub trade was, with a series of difficulties he has had since the opening.

When De Boer's dog opened for the first time in Oxfordshire in August, many from far and wide to the picturesque spot had traveled for a chance of a pint, with the parking lot within an hour after the opening.

So the rise of the problem of the Hill funeral is a new, unwanted headache.

Historical England has previously stated: 'Asthall is a funeral monument of Anglo -Saxon or Viking date.

'The Asthall Barrow is one of the best preserved examples of a kind of cemetery of which there are about ten examples in West Oxfordshire. Despite partial excavation and recent graves of animals, the archaeological and environmental license will contain with regard to its construction

The medieval funeral hill was partially dug out by archaeologists in 1923 and a number of old artifacts were discovered, including cremated human bone pieces, ivory pieces, pottery, game pieces, bronze and silverware.

Archaeologists say the position of the funeral hill on top of a hill that has a commander everywhere, its orientation of it.

The location on the once fighting boundaries of the old kingdoms of Wessex in the south and Mercia in the north suggests that the person buried underneath was probably a high -ranking person of the 'Warrior Elite'.
