A councilor who was praised as a hero for saving six people of furious flood water reminded himself of the terrible moment that he realized that a woman had drowned.

Josh, a 34-year-old from a flood in Ingham, was one of the two people who rushed to the help of a SES boat after this Sunday morning in Northern Queensland turned around in Northern Queensland.

He was video chat with his cousin when the SES boat hit a tree and sent two volunteers, two older people and two children in the dark water.

“He turned the camera so that I could see the SES -Laartboot and we saw him float further until it crashed and turned around,” Josh told Daily Mail Australia.

“At that moment I said,” I'll talk to you later, “hung him up and got my boat straight in the water because I live around the corner.”

While Josh rushed to the stage at Rutledge Street, he ran his neighbor against – a police officer out of service, Dave – who came in to help.

“It was lucky he came because by the time we found them, they had trouble holding on to the trees,” said Josh.

“I managed to get my boat at the back of the tree where the SES boat was, inside that we found the deceased lady.”

In the midst of the flowing water and cries from the stranded passengers, Josh quickly lifted the body of the 63-year-old in his boat.

“Then we had to go to where the two children were,” he said.

'Dave woke the boat against the tree so that we would not go anywhere. I was one end to help a SES member while helping the younger people.

“Swiftwater Rescue and the police boat arrived and managed to get the older gentleman and other SES person.”

The police boat brought the survivors to safety, while Josh drove the deceased woman to the local station, while an emergency response carried out resuscitation in vain hope that she could be revived.

Despite the saving of lives in the brave operation, Josh took the hero tag from him and insisted that he only did 'what someone else would do'.

“I thought, nobody else remembers, I come there much earlier than anyone,” he said.

'The waters on the floor plates. I have lost for $ 60,000 in engines. My cousin has lost everything, '13 -year -old resident, said Josh Turner.

“We just do our best to stay high and dry while we wait.”

Another local local local, Khaden, believes that the floods would surpass the record high of 15.2 metres in 1967 while water is moving over the River Herbert.

'It is a widespreader than '67. Houses that have not received any water and companies that did not get water in '67 are under water, 'he said.

'I know that a bunch of cars in Ingham are parked on a high plate that has never had water and all cars have been destroyed. There will be months of cleaning up, months of people who go without houses to live in. '

The intense rain in the north of Queensland defeated totals on Monday afternoon with a peak of 50 to 100 mm instead of up to 600 mm on weekends.

There were still a few isolated totals with high rainfall between Innisfail and Ingham; 167 mm was recorded on Clyde Road in Babinda and 149 mm in Paluma.

The Bureau of Meteorology warned that Tuesday could bring the local heavy rainfall between Cairns and Townsville with a serious weather warning between Cardwell and Yabulu.
