The murder case against a woman who stabbed her husband was dropped after a report on her sleep disorder discovered that she was not fully responsible for her actions.

Ilknur Caliskan, 47, was charged, was the stabbing murder of her husband Serdar in September 2023, after the 50-year-old man was dead in a car in Clonbinane, north of Melbourne.

An important issue was whether Mrs. Caliskan suffered from a sleep disorder and therefore did not act in a conscious and voluntary state, a pre-trial hearing was told in November.

Mrs. Caliskan would be tried at the Victorian Supreme Court in March, but prosecutors on Tuesday told the court that the case had been stopped against her.

No reason was given, but the lawyers of Mrs. Caliksan rather marked that they considered Parasomnia as a defense.

Parasomnia is another term for a sleep disorder, including sleeping walks and sleeping tdders.

Mrs. Caliskan was released on bail in April 2024, so that she could undergo a sleeping study in Sydney and received the expert report in November.

During a hearing in January, the prosecutors said that they were looking for the opinion of the family members of the deceased in Turkey before they could make a decision about the case.
