A British man is confronted with paying a substantial fine of £ 25,000 after he had filmed a popular fire festival in Mallorca from a limited area with the help of a drone without a permit.

A local police officer saw the nameless Brit, 40, with his drone flying over the Correfoc festival on January 26 and asked him to stop filming.

The Brit is said to have recorded aerial images of the traditional Catalan Fire Festival, in which partygoers ran as demons while they light up fireworks.

The tourist met the officer's request and landed his drone who had flown at an altitude of 30 ft.

The agent then asked to see the license of the drone pilot he did not have, reports from Mallorca Daily Bulletin.

Although the tourist protested against his innocence, the police told him that he was confronted with paying a big fine.

Mallorca has strict laws and regulations when it comes to the use of drones on the Spanish island.

This is just one of the strict rules that British must be aware when visiting Mallorca.

Last summer, tourists who visited the island were warned about massive fines after the introduction of harder news sanction for bad behavior in the biggest hotspot for vacation.

The mayor of the capital of the island, Palma, said that one of his most important objectives was to 'correct inconspicuous attitudes' and this applies as much to holidaymakers as to the locals.

The new citizen regulation could see perpetrators affect fines of a maximum of € 3,000, depending on the seriousness of the infringement.

The rules include a ban on drinking parties in public places, graffiti, scooters and even nudism and semi-nudism.

This new regulation hardenes the sanctions on activities that deteriorate the public areas of the city or make it dirty, often from tourists.

Despite issuing fines to those who use drones without a permit, the Mallorca police are currently preparing to use drones for crowd control on the island, because they are currently struggling with mass tourism.

Authorities have confronted with increasing pressure from the locals who claim that overtourism has ruined their homes with campaigners who blame visitor numbers for problems such as the rising costs of living and a lack of accommodation for the local population.

They also blamed tourists for disturbing the natural environment of the island.
