The teenager who disappeared while swimming at a popular river in the country of NSW was identified.
Taonashe Chivhaku, 16, swam on Monday evening in Macquarie River near Sandy Beach Road in Dubbo, in the central west of the state.
Only 10 minutes later, at around 5.40 pm, Taonashe was missing after he disappeared from view and could no longer be seen in the water.
He was last seen with blue Adidas Shorts and is described as being of African appearance, about 175 cm long and of a solid build.
A large-scale search in which several agencies were involved, including police rescue, SES, VRA Rescue and Orana Mid-Western Officers, was launched to find the teenager.
The search was suspended at night and continued until 12.30 on Tuesday when his body was.
A report will be drawn up for the coroner.
Taonashe was an active member of the community and played for the Dubbo Junior Rugby Club.
