A young British influencer on the 'Holiday of A Lifetime' in Sri Lanka was one of the two guests who suddenly died after allegedly poisoned by pesticides used to kill bed bugs in the backpackers Hostel where they stayed.
Ebony Mcintosh, 24, from Derby, was only four days in her dream trip to the tropical island when she was taken to the hospital on Saturday, together with other guests where they were treated for vomiting, nausea and difficulties with breathing.
But tragically enough died in the hospital within a few hours of arrival – with another German guest who also dies after experiencing the same symptoms.
The Backpacker had only left the UK for Sri Lanka on January 28, and it was her first stop on a tour through South Asia who had planned the journey and did research for months.
The exact cause of Ebony's death is unknown and a post-mortem will take place to establish the circumstances around it.
But reports in Sri Lanka suggest that Ebony and the nameless German woman may be poisoned by harmful pesticides that are intended to treat bedbugs in an adjacent room 72 hours before she collapsed.
The German woman is supposed to have stayed in the same room as Ebony in the Miracle Colombo City Hostel in the capital of Sri Lankan – which is now closed by researchers.
Ebony's younger sister India placed a moving tribute to her on writing social media: “For my ebony, my beautiful sister, thanks, thanks for my older sister, a better than I could ever have asked.”

She added: 'I want you to be home now, then come back! It would only be you who would live your best life in Sri Lanka … I am really deeply sad, I can't believe for you you had so much life left to live. '
She ends her message by saying: 'My heart hurts, I need you here, we all need you. Let's bring your ebony home. '
Ebony had 10,000 followers on Instagram and regularly placed fashion and her journeys around the world.
India has also launched a GoFundMe page to help her destroyed family travel to Sri Lanka and bring her sister's body home. More than £ 20,000 of the purpose of £ 22,000 has already been increased.
India writes on the fundraising page: 'On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Ebony from Heathrow flew her dreams to travel everywhere in South Asia, starting in Sri Lanka. She was full of excitement for her adventures, in typical ebony style she had spent months investigating and planning and drafting schemes for the coming months.
'Her journey was broken down on Saturday 1 February, when she became very ill in the hostel in which they stayed.
'Hair and several others were rushed to the hospital to be treated for vomiting, nausea and in the case of Ebony, breathing problems. Unfortunately, she died tragically on 1 February within a few hours after arrival in the hospital, they couldn't save our beautiful girl.

“She died with someone from the hostel next to her. We are endlessly grateful to this man that we stayed with her during her last moments.
'The authorities in Sri Lanka may not release Ebony to us until a complete post -mortem is completed. There is also an ongoing investigation because of the tragic conditions related to how she died. '
'We are desperate and cannot wait any longer to see her and bring her home.
'We raise money for flight costs, hotel accommodation, emergency passports, vaccinations, visas and funeral services to send her the best she deserves.
'We must be with our beautiful ebony as quickly as possible, we hate the idea that she is only abroad. We want to be able to take her home safely to rest. We just have to take care of our angel.
Ebony is the last in a series of backpackers who have suddenly died in recent months.
The British lawyer Simone White was one of the six tourists who died tragically after a massive methanol poisoning in a hostel bar in Vang Vieng, Laos last November.
Simone had traveled in the Southeast -Asian nation with her girlfriend Bethany, who also fell ill and called her mother Sue White from the hospital as soon as she was admitted.

Mrs White revealed the heartbreaking last message that her daughter sent moments before she was poisoned, with the text: “I have the best time, you know, it's an absolutely fantastic vacation.”
The fatal poisoning took place in the hostel of Nana Backpacker, where the holidaymakers consumed the free whiskey and vodka shots of the hostel that peppered with methanol.
Among the other victims was a 57-year-old American husband named James Huston, two 19-year-old Australians-Holly Morton-Bowles and Bianca Jone-and Danish friends Anne-Sofie Orkild Coyman, 20 and Freja Sorensen, 21.
Last Christmas Day, a British woman and her fiancé were found dead in a Vietnamese hotel after drinking contaminated alcohol, was claimed.
Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and her partner Arno Els Quinton, 36, went out for dinner on Christmas Eve before they came home at 10 p.m. and ordered two bottles of 'home -made' Limoncello from another restaurant.
They were later discovered dead in separate rooms by shocked resort staff.
The Vietnamese police have since confirmed that their death was caused by methanol poisoning, which is believed to be out of the Limoncello.
