The former boss of the Doomed United States Agency for International Development (USAID) defended his record after it was branded by Elon Musk.
The entire department of Samantha Powers was dismantled by De Doge as part of Musk's attempts to reduce the fat on the expenditure of the federal government.
Usaid was established during the Cold War to offer humanitarian aid abroad and has been under the supervision of powers since 2021.
During that time she said that the agency was, “on the front line of some of the most difficult challenges our country is confronted with.”
However, its opponents have accused the wasting expenditure department. The White House claims that millions are given to promote diversity in Serbia, a transopera in Colombia and an LGBT strip in Peru, among other things.
The envoy of President Richard Grenell called for an investigation into powers that he accused of using tax dollars to finance 'crazy, radical programs and distant left -wing activists'.
But in a Tuesday interview with Stephen Colbert from The Late Show, she outlined a part of the life-saving humanitarian work in which USAID was involved.
'The most important fact is programs that were active on which people were dependent

“Or if you are in Sudan and you have a child who streams away because of malnutrition a miracle pasta a peanut paste that offers USAID, that child brings back from the edge of death, all those programs are closed.”
She also warned that the closure of the agency will have a destabilizing effect on geopolitics, because Russia and China want to connect the gaps caused by the withdrawal in financing in exchange for influence abroad.
“When the US pulls away, it is not clear what those other countries will do, there will be a collective action problem,” Powers added.
'But the countries that have the most of them are authoritarian countries, these are nations that thrive on corruption and thrive on chaos.
'This week you see tweets from Russian officials who are celebrating the potential downfall of USAID, you see the officials of the People's Republic of China who are now confronting a serious issue in developing countries, because those countries have dealt in such debts to work with China that they me Want to look somewhere else now. '
However, Powers itself is not free from controversy. She was one of the calling of the 'exposing' of Michael Flynn during the last days of the Obama government.
Flynn was a former national security adviser who was convicted of lying against the FBI about his phone calls with the Russian ambassador.
He was granted grace by Trump, who initially dismissed him about the incident, after the president claimed that the prosecutor proved that the Obama government was 'spied' during his 2016 election campaign.
Powers was also confronted with a public uprising of her staff because of her support for Israel's Bom campaign on Gaza in the aftermath of 7 October.

She was also criticized for holding meetings with liberal heavyweights, including the open society foundations by George Soros, at least twice, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fox reports.
In subsequent interviews, Powers described her deep shock to get her marching orders.
“You can imagine that you get a termination notification in your box that you did not expect to come to a defective designation that you do radical, left -wing insubordination, it is pretty shocking,” Powers told MSNBC.
'Because so many lies and lies are circulating and so many claims that people who are not with the program are simply completely disrupted.
“And then most of them are naturally fired, so that they are worried how they will pay the bills and how they will pay rent.”
USAID was ordered to close on Friday after Musk had burned it a 'criminal organization'.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently recalling thousands of employees in more than 100 countries around the world, told two sources that are familiar with the discussions to Reuters.
The employees were told by Peter Marocco, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, that all USAID – employees and their families should be returned to the United States by Friday – although that deadline could be delayed.
