A portrait of Margaret Thatcher by Scottish artist Anne Mackintosh sold for £ 42,000 at an auction.
The oil cloth from the personal collection of the deceased prime minister was her favorite painting of herself and hung above the fireplace in the living room of her house.
Mrs. Mackintosh, based in Glasgow, was asked by Tory Fundraiser Sir Jack Harvie to paint Baroness Thatcher, so that the portrait could be presented when she visited Scotland.
The Tory politician, who died in 2013 at the age of 87, was in front of the artist and the painting shows her during her last days in Downing Street with a bottle of green aquascutum suit.
The painting had received an estimate of £ 10,000 to £ 15,000, but yielded a final price of £ 42,000 after a bidding war on Sloane Street auctions in London.
Reminded of the committee, Mrs. Mackintosh, who died in 2014 at the age of 79,: 'I knew I would only get two sessions, so I took a video camera and filmed her to talk to me and then worked at home. Then I took the painting to work on the second meeting.

The artist later received a letter of thanks from Baroness Thatcher who was famous photographed with the portrait of herself in 1995 in her house in London.
Mrs. Mackintosh also painted four times in the field of dignitaries such as Nelson Mandela and King Hussein by Jordan.
Another portrait of Baroness Thatcher by the English artist Brenda Bury was sold at the same auction for £ 9,500.
