Donald Trump fired the federal election commissioner Ellen Weintraub on Thursday and focused on one of his most important critics for claims of election fraud.
In a reaction, Weintraub – who has transferred its term to the FEC for almost 20 years – said that the attempt at shooting is illegal and that she was not going anywhere.
Since he took office on January 20, Trump has started a massive make -over from the government, hundreds of civil servants and the senior officials at agencies in his first steps to reduce bureaucracy and lower more loyalists.
Weintraub, appointed FEC by George W. Bush in 2002, posted the letter, dated January 31 and signed by Trump, on social media.
It said, “You will be removed as a member of the Federal Election Commission, immediately in force.”
Weintraub – who consistently closed the claims of the president of fraudulent elections – refuses to leave.
“There is a legal way to replace FEC commissioners, it is not,” she said in a post on X, where the letter was.
“I was lucky to serve the American people and arouse some good problems along the way,” she added in her post.

A spokesperson for the FEC refused to comment on the issue. Dailymail.com has also contacted the White House.
The FEC has six commissioners, with no more than three from the same political party.
There is currently an empty seat on the committee after Trump -appointed Sean Cooksey has resigned earlier this year.
Weintraub is the last remaining commissioner of a gang of four profiled in 2018 who had long been surpassed their first six -year term.
She was planned to leave the FEC in 2008, but remained because the president did not mention a replacement when her term of office was not.
According to the law, supervisory directors may remain as 'acting' supervisory directors until a replacement has been appointed. It is unclear whether Trump has called someone to join the committee in its place.
She was recently re -elected as chairman of the committee to start 2025; Republican James E. “Trey” Trainor, III was voted vice chairman.
Weintraub has formed himself as a Trump critic since he appeared as a political force ten years ago.

On January 6, 2021, she hit Trump because she refused to admit the 2020 elections in the midst of events in the Capitol.
“No, Mr President, the elections were not stolen. You have lost a free and honest election fair and square, “she wrote.
'Call an IOTA of patriotism: admit the elections you have lost. Condemn the violence that you have encouraged. '
That was far from the first time she had focused on the president during his first term of office.
In 2019 she criticized him for claiming that he would accept dirt for an opponent of a foreign power.
Her tweet came after President Trump had doubled a statement with a statement that he meets foreign heads of state all the time and cannot be expected to call the FBI after every time.
