The knife attacker who tried to kill MP Stephen Timms on Al-Qaeda could be released from prison within a few months if her last bid for freedom is successful.
Roshonara Choudhry was only 21 when she was radicalized as a university student and her local Labor MP MR Timms, then 55, stuck during a constituency operation on 14 May 2010.
Choudhry, a Muslim of East Ham, East London, was found guilty of attempted murder and two counts of possessing a knife and was imprisoned for life in the old Bailey.
Now 36 and her minimum sentence of 15 years, Choudhry hopes to be freed with her second application for conditional release.
However, the former chief of the army in Afghanistan, Colonel Richard Kemp, is concerned that the 'very dangerous' person 'has not changed its ways'.
“I'm seriously afraid that she won't have changed her ways. She manipulated the people around her to the point that she was able to launch such a terrible attack. I fear that she can never be reformed well, “he told the mirror.
Van Choudhry was predicted to graduate King's College London with a first class diploma in English, but stopped only a few weeks before he tried to kill Mr Timms.
She was radicalized after looking at online sermons delivered by terror preachers and was inspired to kill Mr Timms because he supported the war in Iraq.

Choudhry stuck Mr Timms with the upper knife, a three-inch knife, and took the five-inch knife below as a backup in case the first broke
With a smile on her face, Choudhry pretended to shook the hand of the MP before he stabbed him twice in the stomach with a three-inch kitchen knife, which cut his liver.
She also brought a second five-inch knife as a backup in case the first broke.
An assistant and a guard succeeded in stopping her and Mr. Timms was saved with emergency operations.
Choudhry isolated herself in prison, refused to see her family and friends and reject visitors.
The judge during her trial, Mr. Justice Cooke, said she would remain a risk for MPs after she had heard that she had made a list of those who had voted in Iraq before the war.
'You do not suffer mental disorders. You simply committed bad deeds cool and deliberately, “he added.
Mr. Timms, now 69, later said: “My real concern is that a very clear young woman with everything to live for the conclusion would come that she should throw it all away by trying to kill the local parliamentary member.”
A report on Choudhry's behavior in prison said she had not had any worries and had followed anti-extremism courses.

In 2023, the Minister of Justice at the time refused Dominic Raab the recommendation of the conditional release to transfer her to an open prison.
The next conditional panel can decide to release it or move to an open prison.
A spokesperson for the board said: “The assessment is aimed at an oral hearing, but there is no date yet.”
A source told The Mirror: 'Because this is the second attempt, there are fears that she will be released. Nobody could see what she was planning, that shows how manipulative she was. '
Mr Timms, who is now Minister of Social Security and Handicap, has revealed that Choudhry had written him various letters from prison.
In an earlier interview he explained: 'In the third of them, she says she regrets what happened.
'So we are in a repairing process that can lead to me meeting her before she is released. I would welcome that. '
In November 2009, Choudhry started downloading more than 100 hours of sermons and lectures by downloading Al-Awlaki in which he preached the need for violent action to combat the atrocities of the West against Muslims around the world. ”

He has claimed: “Assassinations, bombing and acts of arson are all legitimate forms of revenge on a system that enjoys the sacrilege of Islam in the name of freedom.”
In interviews with the police, Choudhry explained how she had met his teachings on YouTube and had been watched more than 100 hours of sermons.
She said: 'I wasn't looking for him, I just met him. He explains things really extensively and in an interesting way, so I thought I could learn a lot from him.
“I was also surprised how little I knew about my religion, so that motivated me to learn more.”
She also said she was not a mosque, but “just pray at home” and when he was asked, he would have to talk about Islam, she replied: “In general I just talk about it with my brothers and sisters, but me Don't name everything to them. '
Choudhry would look at two of the lectures every day and ended the complete set in the first week of May, days before the attack – where the sermons changed her views on the war in Iraq and the backers, which were not specially marked in advance.
She also read a book recommended by Al-Awlaki called 'The Book of Jihad' by Ibn Nuhaas, with chapter titles such as 'The virtues of killing a non-believer because of Allah'.

Choudhry identified radical Islamic website Revolutionmuslim.com as a different source of inspiration.
The site published a list of MPs who votes for the war in Iraq and urged Muslims to take on the 'knife of the Jihad' against them, and explained how you can find constituents 'operations' where you personally Can come across'.
Choudhry planned the attack methodically and registered its local East Ham MP MP MR Timms's Pro Iraq War Views.
The two had met three years earlier when she was part of a group of students of the sixth form to whom he gave a tour of the Houses parliament – in which another girl continued to ask about the war in Iraq.
Choudhry later reminded himself of the police: 'The moment I thought she had to be quiet and that she embarrassed herself – I said nothing to support her, I was just ashamed there.
“I think I respected her because she had the guts to say all these things on his face, but I wasn't brave enough to say anything, I just sat quietly.”
