The woman who died tragically after a freak lightning strike ensured that a tree in the southwestern Sydney broke up.
Rosanna Hashem, at the age of 40, was fatally hit when Lightning hit her property on the old Razorback RD in Cawdor around 5.30 pm on Saturday.
At that time she was in her backyard when the tragic incident took place, with several children witnessing.
She was pierced by wooden shrapnel when lightning made sure that a tree exploded near where she had been.
A friend spoke on her phone when he exploded in her hand because of the electric surge caused by lightning, partially amputated her finger and broke her jaw.
She recovers in the Liverpool Hospital, where she is in a stable state.
“Both women were about six meters from a large tree, and this was struck by a lightning bolt, which the tree literally made for sending debris everywhere,” said NSW -Ambulance inspector David Kynaston.
“This is a very traumatic and tragic incident for the family involved, but also very confronting for emergency services that were present, both in the knowledge that young children had witnessed the incident, but also the injuries that were sustained by the patients.”

Mrs Hashem was the owner of the care services of the Groomy Cat, a company in her house where the accident took place.
Neighbor Rob Campisi said the Freak Storm came out of nowhere and was different from everything he had experienced in the ten years that he had lived in the area.
“It just started to rain and then suddenly just the loudest bang we have ever heard,” Mr Campisi told the Daily Telegraph.
“The power went out and (I was) in the shed and … I looked outside and saw a large cloud of smoke.”
Mr Campisi said that the weather conditions did not seem bad enough to stay inside.
“Sometimes you just don't know when it's your time.”
