Seb O'Halloran left a night spot to support a friend through a break and within an hour he was dead, a court was told.
A woman who was 17 at that time and cannot be called, is on trial for his murder.
Mr O'Halloran, 18, a promising motocross driver, died of a fatal stab wound in a mildura house in northwestern Victoria in the early hours of Saturday, October 21, 2023, told crownor Jordan Johnston to the court.
Attending paramedics could not find a heartbeat and the victim was declared dead on the spot.
The kitchen knife that Mr O'Halloran killed was still in his chest until after an autopsy was performed, the court was told.
Mr. Johnston told the jury that it would be that the accused lived in a stock home in Limpidi Drive with her boyfriend who was then 18.
He claimed that Mr O'Halloran was stabbed by the accused after he had come between her and her boyfriend during an increasingly heated and physical fight.
The jury heard that the boyfriend had reportedly sold and had delivered the accused with cocaine in question in question and that the accused had tried to give away part of his 'stash' of money before he had cut his ties.

Seb O'Halloran, 18, was killed in 2023 after leaving a Mildura Nightspot to help his partner
The public prosecutor said that Mr O'Halloran had left Setts, a Mildura Nightspot, with his friend around 12.35, to offer support while he separated with the accused in the Share House.
Mr. O'Halloran had remained out of the argument and more and more physical fight between the other two, and shouted the partner of his sister and sister from the living room, the court was told.
The jury heard the accused hitting her boyfriend and he squeezed her several times before she was pushed into a room she used for clothing.
The two were separated and Mr. O'Halloran came between them when the accused returned from another room through the kitchen with a knife.
Allegedly, the accused Mr O'Halloran asked to move, which he refused.
“It is the crown matter that (the accused) Seb stabbed in the chest with the kitchen knife … and that he died,” said Mr. Johnston.
The defense accepted that the accused played a role in the death of Mr O'Halloran, but rejected the summary of the crown of what led to the incident.
“(She) held the knife that the body of Seb O'Halloran came in,” the defense of the defense of Sharon Lacy told the court.

“She let go of the knife and it stayed in his chest until after autopsy, none of which is disputed.”
The suspect claims self -defense.
“The position of the defense is that she was alone in a house, with two men,” Lacy said.
“She had reason to fear both and she did what she felt she had to do right now.”
The death of Mr O'Halloran led to pouring out sorrow in the Mildura community and a fundraising for his family has collected more than $ 30,000 since his death.
