Shocking images from New -Zealand have recorded the moment that an SUV director deliberately mounted the curb in an attempt to hit a pedestrian on the side of the road.
The incident took place on Hall Avenue in the Māngere, Auckland, with video of the meeting that was shared on social media on Sunday.
The driver of the car was seen irregularly and first waved on a curb before mounting it.
He then tried to hit a man in a white shirt, who held his backpack and quickly shot out of the way to prevent them from being mowed down.
The man finally escaped by diving behind a light pole before he sprinted away from the stage.
It remains unclear what caused the dangerous encounter.
The police of New Zealand have been contacted for comment.
