The Ministry of Justice of the United States has sued New York, the Governor Kathy Hochul and other state leaders, as part of the Trump government against illegal immigration.

Newly sworn attorney general Pam Bondi announced the lawsuit at her first press conference at the Ministry of Justice.

Bondi said that they also sued in New York Attorney General Letitia James and Mark Schroeder, the current Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.

“This is a new doj and we are taking steps to protect Americans,” Bondi said at her press conference.

She accused New York of prioritizing illegal immigrants over American citizens and explained: “It stops today.”

It comes after the Ministry of Justice has taken a similar action against Illinois and the city of Chicago last week.

“New York did not listen, so now you are the next,” Bondi said.

She warned that the Ministry of Justice is also ready to go after other states that they believe do not comply with federal legislation.

Attorney General Pam Bondi speaks on Wednesday during a press conference

Bondi made her announcement with a group of federal law enforcement officials and an 'Angel Mom' Tammy Nobles who stood behind her.

Nobles shared the story of her daughter who was murdered by an immigrant and gang member who was illegal in the country. She could also be seen in a recent video of the White House.

Bondi focused on the 'Green Light' -New York Act during the press conference, so that immigrants without paper drivers can get driving licenses and at the same time block federal immigration agents to gain access to the data.

The attorney general said that the head of the state's head was specifically included in the group that they personally charged because of the 'green light' law.

When asked by a reporter what the Ministry of Justice is looking for, Bondi said they should see with the leaders of New York, but they claimed that they must comply with federal law.

The lawsuit against New York and its state leaders only come one day after the Ministry of Justice had asked federal prosecutors to drop corruption against the mayor of New York City Eric Adams.

Adams had indicated that he was much more willing to work with the president with his illegal immigration performance prior to Trump in his place.
