An extreme sports effort fell tragically until his death while trying to let a volcano cycle in Mexico.

David Ernesto Villarreal Pérez, 27, and a friend climbed Pico de Orizaba on Wednesday – the last of many daring adventures for the young cycling enthusiast.

After reaching the top of the 18,491ft volcano, they started to come on Pushbikes.

But when they reached a treacherous area that is known as El Sarcófago (the coffin), the rugged site ensured that Villarreal lost control of his bike.

He fell, hit his head and lost consciousness at an altitude of more than 16,732 ft above sea level.

His friend, Brandon Arturo Pérez Guerrero, called the emergency services around noon, but it took more than seven hours before they reached the couple.

When the rescue team reached Villarreal, he still had vital signs, even though he was unconscious.

He was put on a stretcher and the descent began, but by 8 p.m. he no longer showed signs of life.

Provisional reports say that he died of serious blood loss and multiple fractures.

Search and rescue employees reached the couple at 7:30 pm, hours after the 27-year-old suddenly crashed at Pico de Orizaba.

The enormous volcano rises 5,636 m (18,491 ft) above sea level and is the highest volcano and the third highest peak in North America.

A spokesperson for the Puebla State Government said: 'The area of the accident is difficult to reach, with rough terrain.

“And combined with the challenging weather conditions at that height, the helicopter made it impossible, so that the climb and the descent had to be done on foot.”

“The members of the rescue team were able to contact the climbers and confirmed that the wounded man still had vital signs, but he died during the difficult descent,” risk management, said.

Pérez, 28, was able to descend on foot when Villarreal was worn downhill by savior.

He was unharmed, Milenio reports.

Villarreal's girlfriend, Arantza Cavazos, wrote in tribute: 'You were an incredible man, David.

“I hope to meet you again in a different life and to have all the adventures that we have planned together.”
