A coroner today praised the courage of a heroic Brit who drowned after saving two children in the sea on a Spanish beach.
'Very brave' Bryn Thomas from Southampton, Hampshire, dived into the water in an attempt to help the young people, six and seven years old, together with his friend and others on the Costa Blanca.
However, the 'very fit and active' businessman himself got into trouble and died, despite the best efforts of other beachgoers in managing resuscitation as soon as he was pulled out of the sea.
Assistant coroner for Hampshire Kiran Chahal-Musgrave said that the 52-year-old would be remembered for his courage.
'While he is on holiday in Spain, Mr Thomas found some children in trouble in the sea. He made a very brave decision, “she said.
“However, he got some trouble and died despite resuscitation.
“I think Mr Thomas is a very courageous, honorable man who places the life of others for his.
“He will always be remembered because of his courage.
