Donald Trump has encouraged Britain and other allies to buy more American weapons to strengthen NATO alliance.

The president seemed to try to use the American dedication to European safety against the economic prosperity of his country.

His attempt to increase the sale of American weapons by adjusting them to foreign policy was repeated by assistants at NATO Defense Ministers' Summit in Brussels, according to news organization Bloomberg.

The American Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth said earlier this week that America would no longer be 'primarily focused on the safety of Europe'.

Sir Keir Starmer spoke with Mr. Trump in the midst of the furious transatlantic row about how to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Downing Street confirmed that the call took place, but assistants refused to offer a convincing 'reading' of their discussion. But the president said yesterday that the call included the couple that it agreed to meet each other and expected it to happen in the coming weeks.

The malfunctions of the moment the call came, because Mr Trump also wants Europe to buy more American energy as a condition for long -term security guarantees.

Last night, defense sources confirmed that Mr Trump could try to use the American dedication to NATO against European defense expenditure and purchases of American weapons.

Spokesperson for the American National Security Brian Hughes said: “President Trump and his administration involve our NATO bondmen to ensure that all members bear their part of the burden and meet their obligations of the defense. Getting our allies to meet those obligations strengthens NATO. '

America is expected to emphasize that if European states buy more American equipment, this 'interoperability' between different NATO members will improve.

But NATO countries -In particular, Britain, France, Germany and Italy -want to retain their own defense industry that are worth billions of pounds for each of their economies.

In recent years, American weapon sales have been delayed to NATO states by bureaucracy, which leads to allies who buy equipment from other countries instead.

Poland recently signed a multi-billion pound deal to buy hundreds of tanks, planes and long-distance artillery from South Korea, in a big blow to the US.

The most important delays with American equipment would be around the contract process and shipments of the goods.

NATO Secretary -General Mark Rutte has called on the US to reduce bureaucratic complications, so that European armies can grow faster in the light of Russian aggression.

German MP Jurgen Hardt said: 'There is a lot of potential. It could reduce the political disputes with NATO. We could convince Trump with an economic argument.

“It's only wise because we don't produce enough.”

The American embassy in the UK posted a photo of the Prime Minister with Mr. Trump last night and showed Sir Keir at a dining table with Mark Burnett, the special envoy of the US.

It is understood that Mr Trump called Mr. Burnett, who then handed his phone to the prime minister. Burnett has close ties with Great Britain while his mother worked as a waitress in Downing Street more than 30 years ago.
