A small city in the state of Washington was sent in a frenzy after the locals saw an alligator swimming in a lake – but everything was not as it seemed.
When civil servants of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to the cold waters of Cowlitz County, they found a reptile lurking in the water – only to discover that it was in fact fake.
A video posted by the WDFW police shows officer Blaine Corey who carefully approaches the waters to what he thought was a deadly beast.
“Do you want to see an alligator?” A man who greeted Corey, said when he arrived.
But when the couple approached the water, he wondered if the Gator was just a toy.
“Is that an alligator? Is that a fake? Is it toy? “The other man asked. Corey said he was waiting to see if the Gator moved.
In what was both a moment of hilarity and relief, both men discovered that the Gator was just a fake after Corey had pulled it out of the water with a stick.
“Yes, that's fake,” Corey laughed. 'The tail is not even attached to it. It is zipper on it. '

The Facebook message joked: “Nice try myfwc florida fish and wildlife – please come and get your pet.”
'Alligators are not native to the state of Washington and could not establish a population in the region because of the cool climate.
“As a memory, releasing non-native species in the state waters of Washington is illegal, not to mention inhumane for the species that cannot survive in our habitats.”
Northwest Sportsman Magazine shared the video with the text: “Well, that's a way to keep people out of your secret fishing hole.”
