Lucy Letby's former boss has pronounced for the first time to reveal why she believes that the murderer is nurse innocent.
The neonatal nurse and the worst serial child murderer of Great -Britain serves 15 whole life orders after she was convicted of killing seven babies and tried to kill seven others in Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester.
Earlier this month, a 'Blue Riband Committee' of 14 neonatalogists dropped a Bombshell report in which they claimed that they 'found no murders' amid questions about evidence that was used to condemn the 35-year-old.
Now Letby's former manager Karen Rees, 62, has added her voice and says she contacted HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, where the nurse is serving her sentence to register to visit her.
Letby has rejected that request, but Mrs. Rees says she will be with her to tell the Times: “What I saw was a very scared young woman who was shocked and stunned.”
The retired head of nursing was commissioned to meet Letby almost weekly for two years when she was obtained Frontline Nursing in 2016 due to concern about her 'clinical practice'.
She saved a close relationship with Letby during those 'well -being' meetings and later admitted a public investigation that she became 'too close'.
Mrs. Rees described the agreements as 'shocking' in which Letby would 'cry' and 'very sad every time we met'.

“I know they say that psychopaths are smart,” she said. “But if she acted, she deserves an Oscar because she was so convincing.”
The senior nurse and colleagues even set up a WhatsApp group to support Letby for fear that she was suicidal and took her for tea.
In one text, sent in May 2017, almost a year after Letby was removed from the unit, Mrs. Rees wrote: 'Hang there, girl … Your nurse team is completely behind you. We will get through this, Lol (lots of love) K. ''
In another, sent on New Year's Day in 2018, she wanted Letby a Happy New Year, and added: “Let's hope you close this year, I am really proud of you and the professional way in which you have presented yourself everywhere.”
Mrs. Rees continued to contact Letby, even after she had been arrested by the police and wrote in December 2018: 'To let you know that we are constantly thinking about you, hope you have a pleasant Christmas with your family during this constant stressful time . ''
Mrs. Rees told a public investigation in October that Letby was 'absolutely destroyed' when she was moved to an administrative role and 'cried', who was 'terrible' to look.
“I witnessed her and she was absolutely destroyed,” said Mrs. Rees. “She kept crying and asked:” Why do they do this to me, I did not do anything wrong, I will not let them run out of a job of who I love. “
“I suppose that for months, her was sad … I remember looking at her and thought,” This is terrible. ” “

Speaking with the Times, Mrs. Rees remembered the moment in 2017 when Letby argued in a declaration of four pages to return to the department in which she said: 'I am not the cold calculation murderer who believe some of you in this room that I That's Ben. '
Mrs. Rees said she believed Letby when she told her that she had done nothing wrong, especially because her district manager gave the nurse a glowing reference that she was 'fantastic and straightforward'.
'I will always remember that she said to me:' You are the only person, Karen, who did not ask me if I did it? “Because I didn't think she had done that,” said Mrs. Rees.
Letby's process at the Manchester Crown Court had heard that the babies were attacked between 2015 and 2016, while working on the neonatal unit of the countess of the Chester Hospital.
A method was the injecting air into the bloodstream that was said to have caused an air embolism that blocked the blood supply and led to sudden and unexpected collapses.
The court heard evidence from experts that Letby used various other ways to harm babies, including injecting air into the stomach, overfeeding with milk, physical attacks and poisoning with insulin.
And she wrote a note and said: 'I don't deserve to live. I deliberately killed them because I am not good enough to take care of them. '
Dr. Shoo Lee, a retired top neonatal medical expert, was co-author of an academic text from 1989 about air embolism at Babies-Die Prominent in the ten-month test of Letby.

He was chairman of a panel of experts who prepared an 'impartial evidence -based report' and said that their thoughts were with the families of the babies who died – but also claimed that the persecution incorrectly interpreted his findings about skin discoloration.
Dr. Lee told the packaged press conference: 'Death or injury of all affected babies were due to natural causes or on medical care errors. There were serious problems with regard to medical care for patients in this hospital.
'There were problems with regard to teamwork and interdisciplinary cooperation with the Countess of Chester Neonatal Unit. In summary, ladies and gentlemen, we have not found any murders. In all cases, death or injury were due to natural causes or simply poor medical care. Lucy was accused of seven murders and seven attempted murders.
'In our opinion, medical opinion does not support medical evidence of murder in one of these babies, only natural causes and poor medical care. Our full report goes to Lucy's lawyer later this month and then it is up to him and the courts to decide what to do next time. '
Letby's lawyer Mark McDonald said that today's revelations 'demolished the case against her, adding to it:' Lucy Letby was convicted for medical evidence that was presented to the jury. That was demolished today. '
He added that her conviction was 'unsafe' and should be referred back to the Court of Appeal and said, “She has hope, that's all I can say.”
Mr. McDonald said that the legal team 'would be back in the court very quickly'. He added: 'There is overwhelming evidence that the conviction is unsafe. And as Dr. Shoo Lee and the panel are correct, no crime was committed. '
Letby's case will be assessed by a committee that investigates potential legal staff abuse.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) has received a request from its lawyers and said that the work has already started assessing the case, which means a considerable volume of complicated evidence. “
