A veteran -tv news camera who worked for shows on Nine and Seven confronted with a series of alleged rapes in Melbourne more than ten years ago.
Shaun Ryan, 56, arrived hand in hand at the court with his current partner, singer Selena Cross, while they went through a crowd of media, including various former colleagues.
Ryan is said to have raped a woman several times in western Melbourne, ten years before he was accused of detectives of specialist sex crime in August 2023.
He was employed by various news shows in various networks during his long career in television, and was famous for filming the viral moment.
Teen activist Will Connolly, then 17, was caught on camera on an egg on the head of unsuspecting former right -wing senator Fraser Anning in Moorabbin in March 2019.
Ryan recently worked for Channel Nine, but it is clear that he left the network before the rape negations were made public last September.
He was expected to refuse the charges during the hearing after the court had previously been told that his defense was planning to investigate various witnesses.
The legal team was also planning to extensively interrogate the alleged victim during the disputed hearing of today at Melbourne Magistrates Court.

The alleged victim has given two statements to researchers, the court was told earlier.
The courtroom was closed for media shortly after the procedure started. Mrs Cross, who was supported in the room in support of Ryan, was also asked to leave the room.

The hearing was initially closed, so that the alleged victim can give her testimony of a remote location. It was later postponed until May 15.
Ryan will be confronted with the County Court if the magistrate at the next committee determines that there is sufficient evidence to send the cameraman to court.
