A Labor Member today has called for 'serious discussions' about conscription for young British, because the US wants to write down the support for European safety.
Paulette Hamilton, Member of Parliament for Birmingham Erdington, warned that the “Borders of the UK will be threatened,” and added: “Young people did not keep themselves busy, but they will have to.”
She also stacked pressure on PM Sir Keir Starmer when she repeated the requirement of US President Donald Trump to NATO bondmen to commit 5 percent of GDP to Defense spending.
Mr. Trump's government has demanded that European countries offer the 'overwhelming' share of financing for Ukraine in the light of the Russian invasion.
Pete Hegseeth, the new American defense minister, said last week that America would no longer tolerate an unbalanced relationship with his allies. “
He warned that “securing European security should be necessary for European NATO members,” for the American peace talks with Russia.
Sir Keir has said that he is willing to send British troops to the country torn by war as part of efforts to maintain a possible cease-fire, albeit with an American backstop '.
Mrs. Hamilton appeared this morning at Channel 5's Jeremy Vine Show, it was asked how Great -Britain could deliver boots to the ground in Eastern Europe.

The Labor Member replied: 'Conscription is not something I had thought of until all this has been blown up.
'But I do think we should start the serious discussions about conscription.
'Because young people are not involved, but they have to do that because our limits are threatened and you cannot bury your head in the sand.
'The generation of my parents and grandparents fought for this country and enabled us to have 70 years where we had relative peace and harmony.
“It is currently being threatened. So the younger generation cannot continue to say 'we are not going to be busy' because I think they should be.
'We will have to have the discussions to say, look, something has to change. And at the moment we don't have the boots to put on the floor.
“But those boots, somehow, anyway, we have to start talking about how that will happen if it happens at all.”
Mrs. Hamilton also called on Europe, via NATO, to “get his action together,” as she said that British defense expenditure should be increased to 5 percent of GDP.
“We trusted America to deliver weapons to offer support,” she said. “They now said they won't do it.”
Prior to the General Elections of July, Labor promised to increase defense expenditure to 2.5 percent of GDP.
But Sir Keir has so far refused to give a timeline when this ambition will be reached.
