Donald Trump made his strongest step against illegal immigration on Wednesday and signs an executive order that taxpayers stops money to go without papers.
White House Pers Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the move in a post on social media while the president prepared to go back to Washington from Florida.
The order instructs the federal department and agencies to identify all programs funded by the government that currently offer financial benefits to immigrants in the country illegally and 'corrective measures'.
“It ensures that federal funds for states and places will not be used to support the 'sanctuary' policy or to help illegal immigration,” reads a facts of the White House about the order.
The order also contains a mandate to improve the benefit verification to ensure that the benefits do not go illegally to immigrants in the US.
