Hockey fans from both Canada and the United States have focused on the national national anthem singer Chantal Kreviazuk after her decision to turn the texts in 'O Canada' into a wipe to President Donald Trump.
Kreviazuk was given the honor to sing the Canadian national anthem in Boston prior to the long-awaited 4 countries face-off final between the US and Canada, who won the visitors overtime.
Many of the headlines were taken before the puck even fell, but when Singer chose to change the line 'in us all command' into 'that only American command', suggesting that Trump could better stay out of relationships between the countries.
A representative for the singer later told the CBC that it was a deliberate switch in response to Trump, and Kreviazuk himself went to Instagram and insisted that 'we have to get up and use our voices'.
Fans from both sides of the border then expressed their displeasure about her decision and shot the 'disrespectful' and 'embarrassing' text change.
A Canadian hockey fan insisted: 'Changing the texts of the Canadian national anthem for a personal political explanation is a blatant contempt for those who fought and have sacrificed their lives for our country.

Fans quickly went to the commentary section of the Instagram message from Chantal Kreviazuk on Thursday

The Canadians eventually got the best of the Americans during the 4 nations that are confronted with final
'This is not only your song – it's all of us. It is not yours to change. This on such a huge platform was a shame for our nation. '
Another Canadian added: 'This is not your number … It is our number. What the hell do you think? And off -pitch … ..? Cingeworthy Performance. '
A third wrote: 'The national anthem is our song, not one of you, nor do you have the free rein to make changes to the name of your art. You should be ashamed. There was no patriotism, only your ego. '
American fans – perhaps not surprising – were also fast to dive into the commentary section on her Instagram page, with one claiming: “That was a single hand the worst representation I have ever heard.”
In the meantime, others returned Kreviazuk and even claimed that they had viewed 'goosebumps'.
One wrote: 'I felt extremely proud to listen to your display! A real explanation! Subtle changes in certain lines and the emphasis on the word for free! It was great! '

Provocent rhetoric of President Trump has tense the relationship between the countries

Kreviazuk sang the words 'that only we command' – instead of 'in all of us command'
Trump recently threatened an extra rate of 25 percent on the import from Canada and Mexico, which could come into effect on 4 March after his executive order on 1 February.
He has also punched in Canada by calling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau 'Gouverneur'.
It is therefore not surprising that 'The Star-Spangled Banner' was booed by Canadian fans when last weekend was performed in Montreal, when the US and Canada came across during the Round Robin phase of the tournament.
The Americans returned the favor on Thursday when they held 'O Canada' in Boston.
