It arose that Whelan had only attacked the woman for four days after he had been released from prison, where he had previously been convicted of seven years for serious physical injury to another woman.
Whelan turned out to have repeatedly abused his last victim after the night of the attack, after she told officers that she had woke up on different occasions to find him who had sex with her.
She also shared recordings of phone calls she had with the criminal who was heard that he wanted to attack her with sour and threatened to kill her.

The victim, who survived the domestic violence, asked that the police shared the video to increase consciousness, with DC Anderson added that she showed 'incredible courage'.
“The survivor has shown incredible courage in this case, both during the investigation and in court that provides evidence,” she added.
“She made sure that he had consequences for what he brought her through.
'I very much hope that she can be proud of the fact that her courage and strength have ensured that Whelan has extra convictions about his file and has received a new custody.
'We know how difficult and dangerous it is to leave an offensive relationship, but I want to emphasize that abuse is never the fault of the victim.
“Help is there, and we are committed to conducting robust investigations to bring perpetrators for the courts and to ensure that they are held responsible.”
