Two large British highways are closed after the discovery of a body.
Both the M4 and the M48 were closed in both directions tonight after the police had received reports from drivers who saw 'something' on the road.
The police lived the scene on the road between junctions 20 and 21 in Gloucestershire shortly and found 'human remains'.
The M4 is closed in both directions between nodes 20 near Almondsbury and Junction 22 near the Prince of Wales Bridge, as well as the M48 east from Junction 1.
The Severn Crossing remains open.
A police spokesperson said: 'The police were called on Saturday 22 February at 6.40 pm by various drivers who reported something on the road. Officers were present and found human remains.
'There are questions to identify the deceased and to inform next to the chin, while an investigation to determine how the person was created on the highway. The road is expected to remain closed for the early hours of Sunday 23 February.
